  1. 1
A system for securely communicating with a mobile device (101) including an embedded universal integrated circuit card, eUICC, (107), the system comprising:an eUICC subscription manager (109) configured to: a) receive, from the mobile device (101), i) an eUICC identity (107a) and ii) an eUICC public key (214);b) generate an eUICC subscription manager private key (222) and an eUICC subscription manager public key (220);c) derive a profile key (107b) using an elliptic curve Diffie Hellman, ECDH, key exchange with the eUICC subscription manager private key (222) and the eUICC public key (214);d) encrypt a first portion (208a) of an eUICC profile (107c) with the profile key (107b), wherein the first portion (208a) includes network parameters (201);and e) encrypt a second portion (208b) of the eUICC profile (107c) with a symmetric key (127), wherein the second portion (208b) includes a subscriber identity (209a) and a key K (204a), and wherein the second portion (208b) is distinct from the first portion (208a);and a server (105) configured to: a) send (205), to the mobile device (101), i) the encrypted first portion (208a) of the eUICC profile (107c) and ii) the encrypted second portion (208b) of the eUICC profile (107c);and b) after a mobile network operator (104) authenticates a user (113) associated with the mobile device (101), send (309), to the mobile device (101), the symmetric key (127).
  2. 4
The system of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the network parameters (201) comprise a list of numbers associated with the mobile network operator (104).
  3. 5
The system of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the network parameters (201) comprise identification information for a wireless network (102), and wherein the wireless network (102) includes both the eUICC subscription manager (109) and the server (105).
  4. 6
The system of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the eUICC subscription manager (109) performs step e) before step d.
  5. 8
The system of any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the eUICC profile (107c) is sent as separate datagrams using transport layer security, TLS.
  6. 9
The system of any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the server (105) is further configured to send, to the mobile device (101), a ciphertext for the symmetric key (127), and wherein the mobile network operator (104) generates the ciphertext using at least the eUICC public key (214).
  7. 10
The system of any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the subscriber identity (209a) comprises an International Mobile Subscriber Identity, IMSI.
  8. 11
The system of any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the mobile device (101) comprises at least one of a wireless handset, a cellular phone, a smartphone, a tablet computer, a laptop, a tracking device, and a circuit board with a radio.
  9. 12
The system of any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein the server (105) is further configured to send (309) the symmetric key (127) before sending (205) the encrypted second portion (209b) of the eUICC profile (107c).
  10. 13
The system of any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the mobile network operator (104) authenticates the user (113) by i) storing identification information for the user (113) in a database, and ii) verifying the identification information received from the user (113).
  11. 15
The system of any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the mobile device (101) i) downloads the eUICC subscription manager public key (220) and ii) mutually derives the profile key (107b) using the ECDH key exchange with the eUICC subscription manager public key (220) and an eUICC private key (215).
