  1. 1
A method for displaying portions of in vivo images, the method comprising:receiving (600) a stream of in vivo images (200) captured in a body lumen;performing algorithmic recognition of predetermined criteria so as automatically to select (610), by way of a processor (14) or filter (22), images (200) corresponding to detected abnormality or suspected pathology from the stream, wherein the selection is based on one or more selection criteria, the criteria comprising detection of an abnormality or a suspected pathology, and wherein said selected images (200) include the detected abnormality or suspected pathology, further comprising dividing the selected images (200) into different subsets of images, the subsets pertaining to different symptoms or pathologies;automatically cropping said selected images (200) to obtain selected image portions (211, 212) by omitting portions of the selected images (200) not containing the detected abnormality or suspected pathology;receiving (620) a two-dimensional array for display of the selected image portions (211, 212);receiving (620) a spatial arrangement for display of the selected image portions (211, 212) to determine a distribution of said selected image portions (211, 212) in said two-dimensional array;automatically resizing (630) the selected image portions (211, 212) to appropriate dimensions based on the received two-dimensional array;and displaying (640) the automatically selected, cropped and resized image portions (211, 212) according to the received two-dimensional array and spatial arrangement;wherein the selected image portions (211, 212) are displayed in a two-dimensional tiled layout in the two-dimensional array with no spaces, background or borders between adjacent image portions (211, 212);and wherein each two-dimensional tiled layout comprises only image portions from the same subset of images.
  2. 13
A system for displaying portions of in vivo images comprising:a processing unit (11, 12) to receive a stream of in vivo images (200) captured in a body lumen by an imaging capsule (40), the processing unit (11, 12) comprising: an editing filter (22) automatically to select from the stream images (200) corresponding to detected abnormality or suspected pathology, wherein the selection is based on one or more selection criteria, the selection criteria comprising detection of an abnormality or a suspected pathology, and automatically to crop the selected images (200) to obtain selected image portions (211, 212) by omitting portions of the selected images (200) not containing the abnormality or the suspected pathology, and wherein the editing filter is configured to divide the selected images (200) into different subsets of images, the subsets pertaining to different symptoms or pathologies;and a layout unit (28) to receive a two-dimensional array for display of the selected image portions (211, 212), to receive a spatial arrangement for display of the selected image portions (211, 212) to determine the distribution of said selected image portions (211, 212) in said two-dimensional array, and automatically to resize the selected image portions (211, 212) so that the image portions (211, 212) are of uniform size and appropriate dimensions based on the received two-dimensional array;and a display device (18) to display the automatically selected, cropped and resized image portions (211, 212) in a two-dimensional tiled layout according to the received two-dimensional array and spatial arrangement without user selection of the images (200) from a moving image stream;wherein the system is configured to display the selected image portions (211, 212) in the two-dimensional array substantially touching each other, with no spaces, background or borders between adjacent image portions (211, 212);and wherein each two-dimensional tiled layout comprises only image portions from the same subset of image images.
