  1. 1
An electronic display assembly (710) comprising:a first microlens layer (720A) on a first side of a circuit board (740), the first microlens layer (720A) comprising a first plurality of cells;a second microlens layer (720B) on an opposite side of the circuit board (740) from the first microlens layer (720A), the second microlens layer (720B) comprising a second plurality of cells;an image sensor layer (730) adjacent to the first microlens layer (720A), the image sensor layer (730) comprising a plurality of sensor pixels configured to detect incoming light through the first plurality of cells;and a display layer (760) adjacent to the second microlens array (720B), the display layer (760) comprising a plurality of display pixels configured to emit light through the second plurality of cells;wherein each cell of the first and second plurality of cells comprises: a transparent lenslet;and a plurality of opaque walls (1514) configured to prevent light from bleeding into adjacent cells.
  2. 2
The electronic display assembly (710) of Claim 1, further comprising a filter layer (1640) on at least one end of each cell of the first and second plurality of cells, the filter layer (1640) operable to limit light passing through the filter layer (1640) to a specific incident angle.
  3. 3
The electronic display assembly (710) of Claim 2, wherein the filter layer (1640) comprises a coating or a film.
  4. 4
The electronic display assembly (710) of Claim 1, wherein the transparent lenslet of each cell of the first and second plurality of cells is formed from a polymer, silica glass, or sapphire:.
  5. 5
The electronic display assembly (710) of Claim 4, wherein the polymer comprises polycarbonate or acrylic.
  6. 6
The electronic display assembly (710) of Claim 1, wherein the transparent lenslet of each cell of the first and second plurality of cells comprises a three-dimensional shape with a collimating lens on one end of the three-dimensional shape, the three-dimensional shape comprising:a triangular polyhedron;a rectangular cuboid;a pentagonal polyhedron;a hexagonal polyhedron;a heptagonal polyhedron;or an octagonal polyhedron.
  7. 7
A method of manufacturing an electronic display (710), the method comprising:coupling an image sensor layer (730), to a first side of a circuit board;coupling a display layer (760) to a second side of the circuit board that is opposite the first side;coupling a first microlens layer (720A) to the image sensor layer, the first microlens layer (720A) on the first side of a circuit board (740) and comprising a first plurality of cells;and coupling a second microlens layer (720B) to the display layer (760), the second microlens layer (720B) on the opposite side of the circuit board (740) from the first microlens layer (720A) and comprising a second plurality of cells;wherein the image sensor layer (730) comprises a plurality of sensor pixels configured to detect incoming light through the first plurality of cells, and the display layer (760) comprises a plurality of display pixels configured to emit light through the second plurality of cells;wherein each cell of the first and second plurality of cells comprises: a transparent lenslet;and a plurality of opaque walls (1514) configured to prevent light from bleeding into adjacent cells.
