  1. 1
A portable electromagnetic induction welding device (1) for joining tapes (2) of adherends in electrically conductive composite materials with a polymeric matrix, said device (1) comprising:- a base (3) facing a work surface (4), in turn designed to receive said tapes (2) of adherends to be joined or defined by at least one tape (2) of adherend already positioned to receive one or more other tapes (2) of adherends;- an operating head (5) receiving one tape (2) of adherend at a time and movable with respect to said base (3) along at least a first movement line (L1) parallel to said work surface (4) for stretching the received tape (2) of adherend on the work surface (4);- a motorized arm (6) connecting said operating head (5) to said base (3) and selectively activatable to impart movements to the operating head (5) parallel to said first movement line (L1) and also parallel to at least a second movement line (L2) transversal to the first movement line (L1) and parallel to said work surface (4);and - feeding means (8) selectively activatable to feed one tape (2) of adherend at a time to said operating head (5) and connected to the operating head (5);wherein said operating head (5) comprises: - at least one pressure roller (10);and - at least one inductor (11) selectively energized in use to generate an electromagnetic field suitable for inducing parasitic electric currents in said tapes (2) of overlapped adherends so as to produce, by the Joule effect, the local fusion of polymeric matrices in contact with each other of the tapes (2) of adherends;characterized in that said operating head (5) also comprises at least one positioning roller (9) receiving one tape (2) of adherend at a time from said feeding means (8);in that said at least one pressure roller (10) is spaced from and aligned with said positioning roller (9) along said first movement line (L1);and in that said at least one inductor (11) is interposed between said positioning roller (9) and said pressure roller (10) with reference to said first movement line (L1).
  2. 6
The device according to any one of the claims 2 to 5, wherein said operating head (5) is also coupled to said second end portion (18) of said articulation element (16) around a sixth axis (F) transversal to said work surface (4), orthogonal to said first and second axes (A, B) and passing through the operating head (5).
  3. 7
The device according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said operating head (5) comprises a carriage (12) provided with said positioning and pressure rollers (9, 10) and sliding on said work surface (4).
  4. 9
The device according to any one of the previous claims, wherein said feeding means (8) comprise a flexible conduit (30) extending around said motorized arm (6) and internally bearing guide means (31) for guiding the tape (2) of adherend to be fed to said operating head (5), and wherein a downstream end (32) of said conduit (30) is fixed to said operating head (5) in a position adjacent to said positioning roller (9).
  5. 10
A method of joining tapes (2) of adherends in electrically conductive composite materials with polymer matrices by means of a welding device (1), said method comprising the steps of:- feeding one tape (2) of adherend at a time to said operating head (5);- moving said operating head (5) parallel to said first and second movement lines (L1, L2) along said work surface (4);- stretching the tape (2) of adherend received from the operating head (5) onto at least one already positioned tape (2) of adherend;- energizing said inductor (11) to generate an electromagnetic field suitable for inducing parasitic electric currents in said overlapped tapes (2) of adherends so as to produce, by the Joule effect, the local fusion of polymeric matrices in contact with each other of the tapes (2) of adherends;and - pressing the overlapped tapes (2) of adherends by means of the said pressure roller (10);characterized in that said welding device (1) is a welding device according to any one of claims 1 to 9;in that said step of stretching is carried out by means of said positioning roller (9);and in that said step of pressing is carried out after said step of energizing.
