Annuloplasty devices and methods of delivery therefor

Abstract

Apparatus is provided, including a tube (421) shaped to define a tube lumen at least one implant (100) reversibly coupled to the tube (421), and configured for implantation within a body of a patient. The apparatus also comprises two or more longitudinal guide members (470) disposed at least in part along a distal portion of the tube (421), the longitudinal guide members (470) having distal portions thereof configured to be reversibly coupled to the implant (100), and arranged such that application of a force to a first one of the longitudinal guide members (470) steers the distal portion of the tube (421) toward a first location along the implant (100), and application of a force to a second one of the longitudinal guide members (470) steers the distal portion of the tube (421) toward a second location along the implant (100). Other embodiments are also described.

  1. 1
An apparatus (2800) for heart valve repair, comprising a handle (2802), a plurality of tubes (2810) coupled to the handle (2802) and having flexible distal portions, a tubular annuloplasty structure (100) configured to be implanted at a heart valve annulus and defining a lumen therethrough, the annuloplasty structure (100) comprising a contracting wire (110) disposed within the lumen of the annuloplasty structure (100) and a plurality of anchor mounts (461), wherein a portion of the contracting wire (110) extends out of the lumen of the annuloplasty structure (100) so that a size of the annuloplasty structure (100) is adjustable, wherein a distal end of each of the plurality of tubes (2810) is coupled to a respective anchor mount (461) and each of the plurality of tubes (2810) is preloaded with an anchor (740) coupled to an anchor advancement system, the anchor advancement system configured to advance the anchor (740) through the tube (2810) and toward the anchor mount (461) coupled to the tube (2810) so as to anchor the anchors (740) to heart tissue and thereby anchor the annuloplasty structure (100) to the heart valve annulus.
  2. 4
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 or 3, wherein the plurality of tubes (2810) is coupled to a distal end of the handle (2802).
  3. 5
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the plurality of tubes (2810) are coupled and bound together by stabilizing rings (2812, 2820).
  4. 6
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 5, wherein a sheath surrounds the plurality of tubes (2810).
  5. 8
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 7, wherein each of the plurality of tubes (2810) comprises a coupling element (2830) coupling the tube (2810) to a respective anchor mount (461).
  6. 9
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 8, wherein the apparatus (2800) is disposable.
  7. 10
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 9, wherein the contracting wire (110) is coupled to at least one ring (2804, 2806, 2807) of the handle (2802), wherein the size of the annuloplasty structure (100) is adjustable by rotation of the at least one ring (2804, 2806, 2807).
  8. 11
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 10, wherein the annuloplasty structure (100) is compressible.
  9. 12
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 11, wherein the annuloplasty structure (100) is configured to be anchored to a mitral valve annulus.
  10. 13
The apparatus (2800) of any of claims 1 to 12, wherein the annuloplasty structure (100) is formed of a braided mesh.
