7 claims: 3 independent, 4 dependent

  1. 1
A method (500) for wireless communications, comprising:receiving (502) a scrambled downlink reference signal;evaluating a first subframe to determine a cyclic prefix length for the first subframe and possible cyclic prefix lengths for remaining subframes, wherein a dynamic broadcast channel in a subframe provides the cyclic prefix lengths of the remaining subframes;determining (504;506) a pseudo-random sequence, PRS, corresponding to a combination of received primary and secondary synchronization codes, PSC/SSC, wherein the primary and secondary synchronization codes are received in a disparate signal from a transmitter;and descrambling (508) a portion of subframes of the scrambled downlink reference signal according to the pseudo-random sequence and the determined cyclic prefix length for one or more subframes of the portion of subframes, wherein the descrambling is performed over subframes with the determined cyclic prefix length above a specified threshold.
  2. 4
A wireless communications apparatus (700) for interpreting a downlink reference signal in a wireless communications network, comprising:means (702) for receiving a scrambled downlink reference signal;means for evaluating a first subframe to determine a cyclic prefix length for the first subframe and possible cyclic prefix lengths for remaining subframes, wherein a dynamic broadcast channel in a subframe provides the cyclic prefix lengths of the remaining subframes;means for determining a pseudo-random sequence, PRS, corresponding to a combination of received primary and secondary synchronization codes, PSC/SSC, wherein the primary and secondary synchronization codes are received in a disparate signal from a transmitter;and means (712) for descrambling a portion of subframes of the scrambled downlink reference signal according to the pseudo-random sequence and the determined cyclic prefix length for one or more subframes of the portion of subframes, wherein the descrambling is performed over subframes with a cyclic prefix length above a specified threshold.
  3. 7
A computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the method according to any of claims 1 to 3 when run on a wireless communication apparatus.
