  1. 1
A needleless medical connector (2420) configured to resist retrograde fluid flow, the medical connector comprising:a housing comprising a proximal body member (2422) and a base member (2424), the proximal body member comprising a threaded female end (163) and the base member comprising a shroud and a male tip protrusion (142);a proximal closure system comprising a seal member (2426) positioned within the housing;a plug member (2425) slidably received inside the seal member;and an internal closure system comprising a backflow resist valve (730) that is dome-shaped: wherein the dome-shaped backflow resist valve is configured to open to permit fluid to flow from a proximal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve to a distal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve under a first fluid pressure differential between a proximal region of the medical connector and a distal region of the medical connector, and the dome-shaped backflow resist valve is configured to open to permit fluid flow from the distal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve to the proximal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve under a second fluid pressure differential between the distal region of the medical connector and the proximal region of the medical connector that is higher than the first fluid pressure differential;and wherein the proximal closure system and the internal closure system are configured to open and close independently from each other.
  2. 2
The medical connector of Claim 1, further comprising a dynamic regulator (30, 430, 630).
  3. 3
The medical connector of Claim 2, wherein the dynamic regulator and the dome-shaped backflow resist valve are a single unitary structure.
  4. 4
The medical connector of Claim 1, further comprising a volume adjuster (30, 430, 630) positioned between the proximal closure system and the internal closure system, the volume adjuster being capable of adjusting a fluid volume within the medical connector independent of movement of the proximal closure system.
  5. 5
The medical connector of Claim 1, wherein a proximal end of the plug member is open.
  6. 6
The medical connector of Claim 1, wherein the seal member has a closed state and an open state, and wherein the seal member retracts in the distal direction to transition from the closed state to the open state.
  7. 7
The medical connector of Claim 1, wherein the shroud is threaded.
  8. 8
A method of making a medical connector (2420) that is configured to resist negative flow, method comprising:coupling a proximal body member (2422) to a base member (2424) to provide a housing, the proximal body member comprising a threaded female end (163) and the base member comprising a shroud and a male tip protrusion (142);providing a proximal closure system by positioning a seal member (2426) within the housing;slidably inserting a plug member (2425) into the seal member;and providing an internal closure system by positioning a dome-shaped backflow resist valve (730) within the housing;wherein the dome-shaped backflow resist valve is configured to open to permit fluid to flow from a proximal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve to a distal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve under a first fluid pressure differential between a proximal region of the medical connector and a distal region of the medical connector, and the dome-shaped backflow resist valve is configured to open to permit fluid flow from the distal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve to the proximal side of the dome-shaped backflow resist valve under a second fluid pressure differential between the distal region of the medical connector and the proximal region of the medical connector that is higher than the first fluid pressure differential;and wherein the proximal closure system and the internal closure system are configured to open and close independently from each other.
  9. 9
The method of Claim 8, further comprising positioning a dynamic regulator (30, 430, 630) within the housing.
  10. 10
The method of Claim 9, wherein the dynamic regulator and the dome-shaped backflow resist valve are a single unitary structure.
  11. 11
The method of Claim 8, further comprising forming a volume adjuster (30, 430, 630) between the proximal closure system and the internal closure system, the volume adjuster being capable of adjusting a fluid volume within the medical connector independent of movement of the proximal closure system.
  12. 12
The method of Claim 8, wherein a proximal end of the plug member is open.
  13. 13
The method of Claim 8, wherein the seal member has a closed state and an open state, and wherein the seal member retracts in the distal direction to transition from the closed state to the open state.
  14. 14
The method of Claim 8, wherein the shroud is threaded.
