A laser system comprising:a) a laser source adapted to emit a femto second pulse laser beam along a laser beam axis;b) a fixation light source emitting a fixation beam along a fixation beam axis, wherein the laser beam axis and the fixation beam axis are collinear;c) a keratometer comprising: i) a first set of individual light sources that are equally spaced from one another along a first ring and adapted to direct a first light toward an eye;(ii) a second set of individual light sources that are equally spaced from one another along a second ring and adapted to direct a second light toward said eye, wherein said first ring and said second ring are co-planar and concentric with one another and centered about the laser beam and fixation beam axis;(iii) a telecentric lens adapted to receive said first light and second light reflected off of said eye;(iv) a detector adapted to receive light from said telecentric lens and to form an image;and, (v) a processor adapted to receive signals from said detector representative of said image and to determine an astigmatism axis of said eye based on said signals;f) wherein said system is configured to deliver said femto second pulse laser beam to cut a capsulotomy having a tag;g) wherein said tag is a smooth curve, whereby a risk of radial capsular tears is avoided;and, h) wherein said tag is aligned with said determined astigmatism axis.
