    Claims of equivalent WO 2017182488 A2 CLAIMS:1. A hybrid high-security document, comprising: a document;and one or more independent light-emitting modules disposed on or embedded in the document, each module comprising: an antenna with multiple turns, an electronic circuit, and a light emitter mounted and electrically connected on a substrate separate from the document, wherein the electronic circuit is responsive to electrical power provided from the antenna to control the light emitter to emit light.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the light-emitting module has an area less than one hundred thousand, fifty thousand, forty thousand, twenty-five thousand, ten thousand, five thousand, two thousand, or one thousand, five hundred, two hundred fifty, or one hundred square microns.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 4, comprising a power converter that converts a signal with a relatively high current and low voltage to a signal with a relatively high voltage and low current.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 6, comprising an acoustic wave filter, a surface acoustic wave filter, or a bulk acoustic wave filter.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 9, comprising a flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread incorporated in, laminated to, or woven into the document and wherein the one or more independent light-emitting modules are mounted on, embedded in, or micro-transfer printed onto the flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread includes paper, plastic, impregnated paper, or metal foil or wherein the flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread is electrically insulating.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein the flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread is electrically insulating.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 12, comprising a plurality of light-emitting modules.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the document has visible markings and the one or more light-emitting modules are disposed in a location corresponding to a portion of the visible markings to highlight or otherwise indicate or emphasize the portion of the visible markings.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 16, wherein the electronic circuit controls the light emitter within a light-emitting module to flash once or to flash sequentially.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 17, wherein the one or more light-emitting modules include inorganic light-emitting diodes that emit different colors of light.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 19, wherein the electronic circuit is responsive to power received by the antenna to cause the light emitter to emit light or to send an electromagnetic signal.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 21 to 24, wherein the antenna layers are alternately connected near the edge of the antenna and near the center of the antenna.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 21 to 25, wherein the electronic circuit is in a layer and the antenna layer farthest from the electronic circuit is electrically connected to the electronic circuit layer nearer to the center of the electronic circuit layer than to the edge of the electronic circuit layer.

    The hybrid high-security document according to any one of claims 1 to 26, wherein the electronic circuit and light emitter are powered solely by the energy received from the antenna.

    A method of making a hybrid high-security document, comprising:providing a document having visible markings;providing a source having a plurality of printable light-emitting modules;and disposing one or more of the light-emitting modules onto the hybrid document or onto a flexible substrate, ribbon, film, or thread subsequently incorporated in, laminated to, or woven into the document.

    The method according to any one of claims 31 to 33, comprising micro-transfer printing one or more light emitters and an integrated circuit onto a substrate to form a light-emitting module and the light-emitting modules incorporate the substrate.

    A method of using a hybrid high-security document, comprising:providing a hybrid high-security document according to claim 1;and exposing the hybrid high-security document to an electromagnetic field so that the antenna provides power to the electronic circuit and causes the light emitter to emit light.

    A wirelessly coupled display system, comprising:a device comprising a wireless power transmitter that provides wireless power within a specified range;and one or more wirelessly powered displays located within the range and responsive to the wireless power provided by the device to display an image, wherein each wirelessly powered display comprises: a substrate;an antenna with multiple turns disposed on the substrate;an electronic circuit disposed on the substrate;and one or more pixels each having one or more inorganic light-emitting diodes disposed on the substrate;wherein: the electronic circuit is electrically connected to the one or more inorganic LEDs and the antenna;the antenna is responsive to electromagnetic energy to provide electrical power;and the electronic circuit comprises a power converter that converts a signal with a relatively high current and low voltage to a signal with a relatively high voltage and low current.
