Update of security for group based feature in m2m

Abstract

A network node (21), which is placed within a core network, receives a message from a transmission source (30) placed outside the core network. The message includes an indicator indicating whether or not the message is addressed to a group of one or more MTC devices attached to the core network. The network node (21) determines to authorize the transmission source (30), when the indicator indicates that the message is addressed to the group. Further, the message includes an ID for identifying whether or not the message is addressed to the group. The MTC device determines to discard the message, when the ID does not coincide with an ID allocated for the MTC device itself. Furthermore, the MTC device communicates with the transmission source (30) by use of a pair of group keys shared therewith.

10 claims: 6 independent, 4 dependent

  1. 1
A mobile communication system, comprising:a plurality of devices (10) that form a group;a Services Capability Server, SCS (30);a first node (21);and a second node (50), wherein: the SCS (30) is configured to send a message including an external group ID to the first node (21), the first node (21) is configured to check that the SCS (30) is authorized to send the message, the first node (21) is configured to send an internal group ID mapped with the external group ID to the second node (50), and the second node (50) is configured to broadcast a group message to the plurality of devices (10).
  2. 4
The mobile communication system of any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the message includes geography area information.
  3. 5
A method of a mobile communication system including a plurality of devices (10) that form a group, a Services Capability Server, SCS (30), a first node (21), and a second node (50), the method comprising:sending (S2, S5), by the SCS (30), a message including an external group ID to the first node (21);checking (S9), by the first node (21), that the SCS (30) is authorized to send the message;sending (S10), by the first node (21), an internal group ID mapped with the external group ID to the second node (50);and broadcasting (S12), by the second node (50), a group message to the plurality of devices (10).
  4. 6
A first node (21) in a mobile communication system including a plurality of devices (10) that form a group, a Services Capability Server, SCS (30), and a second node (50), comprising:a receiver configured to receive a message including an external group ID from the SCS (30);a controller configured to check that the SCS (30) is authorized to send the message;and a sender configured to send, to the second node (50), an internal group ID mapped with the external group ID for use by the second node (50) when broadcasting a group message to the plurality of devices (10).
  5. 9
The first node (21) of any of claims 6 to 8, wherein the message includes geography area information.
  6. 10
A method of a first node (21) in a mobile communication system including a plurality of devices (10) that form a group, a Services Capability Server, SCS (30), and a second node (50), the method comprising;receiving (S2, S5) a message including an external group ID from the SCS (30);checking (S9) that the SCS (30) is authorized to send the message;and sending (S10), to the second node (50), an internal group ID mapped with the external group ID for use by the second node (50) when broadcasting a group message to the plurality of devices (10).
