Claims of equivalent WO 2017059435 A1 CLAIMS What is claimed is:1. A method for determining timing for a time division duplex (TDD) signal in a distributed antenna system (DAS), the method comprising: grouping power samples of a downlink portion of the TDD signal into blocks corresponding to a respective time period;comparing power samples of the blocks to a power threshold;assigning the blocks as ON or OFF based on a number of power samples in a respective block that are above the power threshold;identifying a start of a downlink burst in the TDD signal as an ON block preceded by at least a minimum number of consecutive OFF blocks;and controlling at least one component in the DAS based on the start of the downlink burst.
  2. 25
A remote unit in a distributed antenna system (DAS), the remote unit comprising:one or more antennas for radiation of downlink signals and for sensing of uplink signals;a switch configured to selectively couple one of a downlink communication path or an uplink communication path to the one or more antennas;one or more processing devices configured to: group power samples of a downlink portion of a time division duplex (TDD) signal into blocks corresponding to a respective time period;compare power samples of the blocks to a power threshold;assign the blocks as ON or OFF based on a number of power samples in a respective block that are above the power threshold;identify a start of a downlink burst in the TDD signal as an ON block preceded by at least a minimum number of consecutive OFF blocks;and set the switch based on the start of the downlink burst.
