  1. 1
A faucet assembly, comprising:an armature (20) that is adapted to be connected to a sink (12) or a counter top (13), the armature (20) includes an outlet (22) adapted to discharge a water flow into the sink (12);an ozone chamber (30) defined by a housing (32) having a top (33) and a bottom (34), and a water inlet (40) and a water outlet (42) connected to the ozone chamber (30);a flow control valve (52) connected to the water inlet (40);a fluid conveying connection (56) between the water outlet (42) of the ozone chamber (30) and the armature (20);a sensor (60) that is adapted to detect a user's presence;an ozone generator (66) located within the ozone chamber (30;and a controller (50) configured to receive signals from the sensor (60) and operate the flow control valve (52) and the ozone generator (60), the controller (50) being configured to run a disinfection cycle at least on an occasional basis in which the ozone generator (66) is activated, and after a pre-determined time period, the controller (50) opens the flow control valve (52) to flush a sink drain line (16) with ozone-rich water, characterized in that the controller (50) is further configured to detect a current draw of the ozone generator (66) and adjust the pre-determined time period that the ozone generator (66) is activated to control a concentration of ozone in the water in the chamber (30).
  2. 11
A method of disinfecting a sink trap, comprising:providing an armature (20) that is adapted to be connected to a sink (12) or a counter top (13), with the armature (20) including an outlet (22), an ozone chamber (30) defined by a housing (32) having a top (33) and a bottom (34), and a water inlet (40) and a water outlet (42) connected to the ozone chamber (30), a flow control valve (52) connected to the water inlet (40), a fluid conveying connection (56) between the water outlet (42) and the armature (20), a sensor (60) that is adapted to detect a user's presence, an ozone generator (66) located within the ozone chamber (30), and a controller (50) configured to receive signals from the sensor (60) and operate the flow control valve (52) and the ozone generator (66);running a disinfection cycle by the controller (50) activating the ozone generator (66), and after a pre-determined time period, the controller (50) opening the flow control valve (52) to flush a sink drain line (16) with ozone-rich water, characterized by the step of detecting a current draw of the ozone generator (66) and adjusting the pre-determined time period that the ozone generator (66) is activated to control a concentration of ozone in the water in the ozone chamber (30).
  3. 13
A method of providing a disinfecting hand wash, comprising:detecting if a user is present at a sink by a sensor (60);a controller (50) receiving a signal if a user is present and opening a flow control valve (52) for water and starting an ozone generator (66) located in an ozone chamber (30) that receives the water from the flow control valve (52), and discharges the water into the sink (12);the controller (50) turning off the flow control valve (52) for a predetermined time to increase and ozone concentration in the water in the ozone chamber (30);and the controller (50) opening the flow control valve (52) to discharge the water with the increased ozone concentration from the ozone chamber (30) into the sink (12), characterized by the step of monitoring a current draw of the ozone generator (66) and adjusting the predetermined time based on the current draw.
