A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system (100) comprising:an evaporator coil (130);a metering device (202) fluidly coupled to the evaporator coil (130);a variable-speed circulation fan (110) for circulating air around the evaporator coil (130);a condenser coil (142) fluidly coupled to the metering device (202);a variable-speed compressor (140) fluidly coupled to the condenser coil (142) and the evaporator coil (130);a controller (150) operatively coupled to the variable-speed compressor (140) and the variable-speed circulation fan (110);a first temperature sensor (227) disposed in a supply duct (256), the first temperature sensor (227) being configured to measure a discharge air temperature and transmit the measured discharge air temperature to the controller (150);a second temperature sensor (229) disposed in an enclosed space (101), the second temperature sensor (229) being configured to measure temperature of the enclosed space (101) and transmit the temperature of the enclosed space (101) to the controller (150);and wherein the controller (150) is configured to: determine if the temperature of the enclosed space (101) is below a minimum threshold;characterized in that the the controller (150) furthermore is configured to: responsive to a determination that the temperature of the enclosed space (101) is below the minimum threshold, modulate at least one of a speed of the variable-speed compressor (140) and the variable-speed circulation fan (110) to lower the discharge air temperature from a first setpoint temperature to a second setpoint temperature.
