  1. 1
A system comprising:a milk collecting system comprising: a teat cup (168);a milk collector (430);and a milking hose system connecting the teat cup (168) to the milk collector (430);a teat cup holder (362) comprising a nozzle (366), the nozzle (366) substantially aligned with an opening of the teat cup (168) when the teat cup (168) is stored in the teat cup holder (362);and a first cleanser source (400) associated with a first cleanser valve (410);a second cleanser source (400) associated with a second cleanser valve (410);a controller (200) configured to determine whether to perform a short cleaning or a main cleaning, wherein the controller (200): selects between the first cleanser source (400) and the second cleanser source (400);causes the first cleanser valve (410) to open if the first cleanser source (400) is selected;causes the second cleanser valve (410) to open if the second cleanser source (400) is selected;and a cleansing hose system connecting the nozzle (366) of the teat cup holder (362) to the selected cleanser source (400);wherein during a short cleaning, cleanser from the selected cleanser source (400) backwashes the teat cup (168) and milking hoses (378) of the milking hose system connected between the teat cup (168) and a first drain (416b), but not the milk collector (430);wherein during a main cleaning, cleanser from the selected cleanser source (400) backwashes the teat cup (168), milking hoses (378) of the milking hose system connected between the teat cup (168) and a second drain (416c), and the milk collector (430);wherein the controller (200) is further operable to: communicate a signal to open the first drain (416b) of the milk collecting system upon a determination to perform the short cleaning;and communicate a signal to close the first drain (416b) and open the second drain (416c) of the milk collecting system upon a determination to perform the main cleaning;wherein the first drain (416b) is positioned between the teat cup (168) and the second drain (416c);wherein the first drain (416b) is positioned between the teat cup (168) and the milk collector (430) such that opening the first drain (416b) prevents the backwash from reaching the milk collector (430);and wherein the second drain (416c) is positioned after the milk collector (430) in relation to the teat cup (168) such that opening the second drain (416c) does not prevent the backwash from reaching the milk collector (430).
  2. 2
The system of Claim 1, wherein:the controller (200) communicates the signals to open and close the first drain (416b) to a first drain valve (414b), the first drain valve (414b) operable to open and close the first drain (416b);and the controller (200) communicates the signal to open the second drain (416c) to a second drain valve (414c), the second drain valve (414c) operable to open and close the second drain (416c).
  3. 3
The system of Claim 1, the controller (200) further operable to:communicate a signal to open the first cleanser valve (410) corresponding to the first cleanser source (400) during the short cleaning, the first cleanser source (400) operable to dispense warm water, cold water, or steam;and communicate a signal to open the second cleanser valve (410) corresponding to the second cleanser source (400) during the main cleaning, the second cleanser source (400) operable to dispense detergent.
  4. 4
The system of Claim 1, the controller (200) further operable to:determine to perform the short cleaning in response to receiving a signal indicating completion of a milking cycle.
  5. 5
The system of Claim 4, the controller (200) further operable to:determine to perform the main cleaning according to a pre-determined time interval.
  6. 6
The system of Claim 1, further comprising:a preparation cup (166);a preparation cup holder (362) comprising a second nozzle (366), the second nozzle (366) substantially aligned with an opening of the preparation cup (166) when the preparation cup (166) is stored in the preparation cup holder (362);and a valve system (408);wherein: the cleansing hose system connects the second nozzle (366) to the cleanser sources (400) and is operable to backwash the preparation cup (166);and the valve system (408) is operable to inject cleanser from one or more cleanser sources (400) through the second nozzle (366) independently of injecting cleanser through the nozzle (366) of the teat cup holder (362).
  7. 7
The system of Claim 1, wherein the cleansing hose system further comprises a cleansing hose connector (418) having a plurality of inlets (420), a connecting portion (422), a first outlet (424), and a second outlet (424), wherein:each inlet (420) corresponds to one of the cleanser sources;the connecting portion (422) connects the inlets (420) and the outlets (424) through an intermediate chamber;the first outlet (424) corresponds to the nozzle (366);and the second outlet (424) corresponds to a second nozzle (366), the second nozzle (366) operable to backwash a second teat cup (168).
  8. 8
