  1. 1
A key mechanism (4112), comprising:a keycap assembly (14);a support structure (70);a half-butterfly hinge (4050) comprising two wings (4051, 4052) adjacent each other such that a cavity is formed between the two wings (4051, 4052), each wing comprising: a pair of keycap pins (4054, 4057) coupled to the keycap assembly (14);a major arm extending from the pair of keycap pins to a first pivot pin (55) coupled to the support structure (70);and a minor arm extending from the pair of keycap pins to a second pivot pin (56) coupled to the support structure (70);and a coupling mechanism (4030) coupling ends of the major arms of the half-butterfly hinge (4050) together, characterized in that : the major arms of the two wings are positioned on a first side of the cavity, the minor arms of the two wings are positioned on a second side of the cavity, and the minor arms of the two wings are shorter than the major arms of the two wings.
  2. 4
The key mechanism (4112) of any preceding claim, wherein keycap pins (4054, 4057) of a first wing of the two wings (4051, 4052) is coupled to the keycap assembly (14) by a c-clip retaining member and the keycap pins (4054, 4057) of a second wing of the two wings (4051, 4052) is coupled to the keycap assembly (14) by an L-shaped retaining member.
  3. 11
The key mechanism of any of claims 8 to 10, wherein the keycap assembly (14) comprises:a keycap;a substructure secured to a bottom surface of the keycap and defining an opening therethrough to allow light to pass through;pin retaining mechanisms attached to the substructure.
