A liquid crystal display, comprising:a first substrate (10);a first electrode (12) disposed on a first surface of the first substrate (10);a second substrate (20) opposite the first substrate (10);a second electrode (23) disposed on a first surface of the second substrate (20);a first polarizer film (14) formed on a second surface of the first substrate (10);a second polarizer film (24) formed on a second surface of the second substrate (20);and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate (10) and the second substrate (20) and comprising a plurality of liquid crystal molecules (30), wherein the first electrode (12) includes a first domain defining member (130) and the second electrode (23) includes a second domain defining member (240, 250), the first domain defining member (130) and the second domain defining member (240, 250) face each other, wherein the first domain defining member (130) and the second domain defining member (240, 250) divide the liquid crystal layer into a plurality of sub-regions, each of the sub-regions having a first side, wherein the liquid crystal molecules (30) are aligned in a vertical direction with surfaces of the first substrate (10) and the second substrate (20) when a difference between voltages of the first electrode (12) and the second electrode (20) is substantially zero, characterized in that the liquid crystal molecules (30) being arranged in a direction parallel to the first side in each of the sub-regions, and the first side slants from sides of the first electrode (12) and from a light transmission axis of the first polarizer film (14) or the second polarizer film (24), and wherein the liquid crystal layer in one pixel area is divided by the first domain defining member (130) into four sub-regions, where the liquid crystal molecules (30) are arranged in a direction inclined to a polarizing direction when an electric field is generated to the liquid crystal layer.
