    Method (400) of splicing a plurality of shielded wire cables(110, 112, 114), comprising the steps of:providing (410) a first shielded wire cable (110) having a first core conductor (116) at least partially axially surrounded by a first shield conductor (130) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a first insulative jacket (124);providing (410) a second shielded wire cable (112) having a second core conductor (118) at least partially axially surrounded by a second shield conductor (132) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a second insulative jacket (126);providing (410) a third shielded wire cable (114) having a third core conductor (120) at least partially axially surrounded by a third shield conductor (134) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a third insulative jacket (128);providing (410) a first flexible insulation layer (510) formed of a flexible dielectric material such as heat shrinkable plastic tubing, cloth tape, or plastic tape;providing (410) a flexible conductive layer (518), wherein the flexible conductive layer (518) does not include solder;wrapping (416) the first flexible insulation layer (510) about the exposed joined portion of the first, second, and third core conductors (116, 118, 120);wrapping (422) the flexible conductive layer (518) about the first, second, and third shield conductors (130, 132, 134);wrapping (424) a third flexible insulation layer (520), being a section of heat shrinkable plastic tubing, about the first insulative jacket (124) and a first portion of the flexible conductive layer (518);characterized by the steps:providing (410) a section of dual wall heat shrink tubing (524) having an outer wall made of a heat shrinkable plastic and an inner wall made of a thermoplastic adhesive sealant;wrapping (428) a fourth flexible insulation layer (522), being a section of heat shrinkable tubing, about a portion of the second and third insulative jacket (126, 128) and a second portion of the flexible conductive layer (518) and a portion of the third flexible insulation layer (520) such that it overlaps the third flexible insulation layer (520);disposing (428) the flexible conductive layer (518) and portions of the first, second, and third insulative jacket (124, 126, 128) within the section of dual wall heat shrink tubing (524) and wrapping the dual wall heat shrink tubing (524) about the third and fourth flexible insulation layers (520, 522).

    Method (400) according to one of the claims 1-2, wherein the first flexible insulative layer (510) is formed of a cloth tape.

    Method (400) of one of the preceding claims, wherein the second, third, and fourth (512, 520, 522) flexible insulation layers are formed of a section of heat shrink tubing.

    Method (400) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the fourth flexible insulation layer (522) has a larger diameter than the third flexible insulation layer (520) prior to shrinking.

    Method (400) according to one of the claims 1-5, further comprising the steps of:providing a first ferrule (514) and a second ferrule (516);wrapping (420) the first ferrule (514) about the second insulative jacket (126);and wrapping (420) the second ferrule (516) about the third insulative jacket (128) adjacent the first ferrule (514).

    Method (400) according to one of the claims 6-7, wherein the first and second ferrules (514, 516) are disposed within the section of dual wall heat shrink tubing (524).

    Wire harness assembly having a splice of at least three shielded wire cables(110, 112, 114), comprising:a first shielded wire cable (110) having a first core conductor (116) at least partially axially surrounded by a first shield conductor (130) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a first insulative jacket (124);a second shielded wire cable (112) having a second core conductor (118) at least partially axially surrounded by a second shield conductor (132) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a second insulative jacket (126);a third shielded wire cable (114) having a third core conductor (120) at least partially axially surrounded by a third shield conductor (134) which is at least partially axially surrounded by a third insulative jacket (128), wherein the first core conductor (116) is electrically and mechanically coupled to the second core conductor (118) and the third core conductor (120);a first flexible insulation layer (510) formed of a flexible dielectric material such as heat shrinkable plastic tubing, cloth tape, or plastic tape wrapped about the exposed joined portion of the first, second, and third core conductors (116, 118, 120);a flexible conductive layer (518) wrapped about the first, second, and third shield conductors (130, 132, 134), wherein the flexible conductive layer (518) does not include solder;characterized in that the wire harness assembly comprises: a third flexible insulation layer (520), being a section of heat shrinkable tubing, wrapped about the first insulation layer (510) and a first portion of the flexible conductive layer (518);a fourth flexible insulation layer (522), being a section of heat shrinkable tubing, wrapped about the second and third insulation layer (512, 520) and a second portion of the flexible conductive layer (518) and a portion of the third flexible insulation layer (520) such that it overlaps the third flexible insulation layer (520);a section of dual wall heat shrink tubing (524) having an outer wall made of a heat shrinkable plastic and an inner wall made of a thermoplastic adhesive sealant, in which portions of the first, second, and third insulative jackets (124, 126, 128) are disposed, the section of dual wall heat shrink tubing being wrapped about the third and fourth flexible insulation layers (520, 522).

    Wire harness assembly according to one of the claim 9, further comprising a second flexible insulation layer (512) wrapped about the first insulation layer (510) while leaving the shield conductors (130, 132, 134) exposed, the second flexible insulative layer (512) being a section of heat shrinkable plastic tubing.

    Wire harness assembly according to one of the claims 9-11, further comprising:a first ferrule (514) wrapped about the second insulative jacket (126);and a second ferrule (516) wrapped about the third insulative jacket (128) and adjacent the first ferrule (514), wherein the first and second ferrules (514, 516) are also disposed within the section of dual wall heat shrink tubing (524).

    Wire harness assembly according to one of the claims 11-12, wherein the second, third, and fourth flexible insulation layers (512, 520, 522) and first and second ferrules (514, 516) are formed of a section of heat shrink tubing, the first insulation layer (510) is formed of a cloth tape, and the flexible conductive layer (518) is formed of braided strands and/ or the fourth flexible insulation layer (522) has a larger diameter than the third flexible insulation layer (520) prior to shrinking.
