    A delivery mechanism (90; 132; 342; 384) of an infusion pump (10; 100; 380) for dispensing fluid to a patient, the delivery mechanism comprising:a spool (156;340) slidingly disposed in a bore (144;220) of a delivery mechanism body (236);and an o-ring seal disposed on the spool, the o-ring seal comprising: a gland (270;292) for seating an o-ring (272) including an outer circumferential groove (274;294) extending circumferentially around a longitudinal axis of a cylindrical body of the spool, the circumferential groove including an angled first surface (276;298) and an angled second surface (278;302) opposite the angled first surface and an inner overflow channel (280;304) disposed below the angled first and second surfaces and including a pair of sidewalls each extending downwardly and at an angle to one of the angled first and second surfaces and a bottom;and an o-ring (272) disposed in the gland with a first circumferential band (282) of the o-ring resting on the first angled surface and a second circumferential band (284) of the o-ring resting on the second angled surface above the overflow channel with the o-ring in a substantially uncompressed state.

    The delivery mechanism of an infusion pump claim 1, wherein the o-ring has an axial compression of about 60 percent to about 85 percent.

    A portable infusion pump system (10; 110; 380), comprising:a disposable fluid cartridge (16;112;374) including a delivery mechanism as claimed in any one of claims 1-8;and a pump device (12;14;114) configured to accept the disposable fluid cartridge.

    The portable infusion pump system of claims 10, wherein the pressure sensor is disposed in the pump device.

    The portable infusion pump system of any one of claims 9-12, further comprising a graphic user interface (44;116;166;388;454) configured to accommodate user data input regarding delivery of fluid from the disposable fluid cartridge.
