19 claims: 12 independent, 7 dependent

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2013181229 A2 CLAIMS What is claimed is:1. An oil well stimulation method for enhancing oil recovery from one of a formation and a reservoir, the oil well stimulation method characterized by steps of: injecting, into the one of the formation and the reservoir, an aqueous composition comprising an ammonium containing compound and a nitrite containing compound: and injecting, into the one of the formation and the reservoir, an activator, the activator initiating a reaction between the ammonium containing compound and the nitrite containing compound, such that the reaction generates steam and nitrogen gas, increasing localized pressure and improving oil mobility, in the one of the formation and the reservoir, thereby enhancing oil recovery from the one of the formation and the reservoir.
  2. 3
An oil well stimulation method of any of Claims 1-2, wherein the step of injecting the aqueous composition is characterized by injecting the nitrite containing compound being selected from the group consisting of sodium nitrite, potassium nitrite, and sodium hypochlorite,
  3. 4
An oil well stimulation method of any of Claims 1-3, wherein the step of injecting the activator is characterized by injecting one of an acidic hydrogen compound and heat.
  4. 7
An oil well stimulation method of any of Claims 1-6, wherein the step of injecting the aqueous composition is characterized by injecting equimoiar amounts of the ammonium containing compound and the nitrite containing compound.
  5. 8
An oil well stimulation method of any of Claims 1-7, further characterized by a step of:injecting, into the one of the formation and the reservoir, a non-acidic well stimulation fluid, the non-acidic well stimulation fluid being operable to delay the reaction between the ammonium containing compound and the nitrite containing compound.
  6. 9
Ail oil well stimulation method of any of Claims 1-8, wherein the step of injecting the aqueous composition is characterized by injecting 1 to 9 molar of the ammonium containing compound and 1 to 9 molar of the nitrite containing compound.
  7. 11
An oil well stimulation composition, characterized by:an ammonium containing compound;a nitrite con taming compo und;and an activator, the activator being operable to initiate a reaction between the ammonium containing compound and the nitrite containing compound, such that the reaction generates steam and nitrogen gas, increasing localized pressure and improving oil mobility, in the one of the formation and the reservoir, thereby enhancing oil recovery from the one of the formation and the reservoir.
  8. 13
An oil well stimulation composition of any of Claims 11 -12, wherein the nitrite containing compound is selected from the group consisting of sodium nitrite, potassium nitrite, and sodium hypochlorite.
  9. 14
An oil well stimulation composition of any of Claims 11 -13, wherein the activator comprises one of a weak acid,, a strong acid, and a dilute strong acid.
  10. 16
An oil well stimulation composition of any of Claims 1 1-15, wherein the oil well stimulation compounds comprise equimolar amounts of the ammonium containing compound and the nitrite containing compound,
  11. 17
An oil well stimulation composition of any of Claims 1 1-16, further characterized by:a non-acidic well stimulation fluid, the non-acidic well stimulation fluid being operable to delay the reaction between the ammonium containing compound and. the nitrite containing compound.
  12. 18
An oil well stimulation composition of any of Claims 11-17, wherein the aqueous composition comprises 1 to 9 molar of the an ammonium co taining compound and. 1 to 9 molar of the nitrite containing compound.
