18 claims: 12 independent, 6 dependent

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2013128357 A2 CLAIMS 1 . A relaying device for forming a wireless mesh network, the relaying device comprising a first wireless frontend and a second wireless frontend which are to communicate with each other to facilitate data communication between a first external device and a second external device, wherein the first wireless frontend is to communicate wirelessly with the first external device and the second wireless frontend is to communicate with the second external device using WiFi or IEEE 802.1 1 infrastructure mode transmission protocol.
  2. 4
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the first wireless frontend has a first associated IP address and the second wireless frontend has a second associated IP address different to the first IP address.
  3. 5
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the wireless frontends are configured to communicate wirelessly at data rates up to the limits set by the IEEE802.1 1 infrastructure modes, for example 150 Mbps or above, and preferably at 300 Mbps or above under IEEE 802.1 1 n;or up to 1 .3Gbps under IEEE 802.1 1 ac.
  4. 6
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the first and the second wireless frontends are to communicate in a back-to-back manner to facilitate data communication between the first and the second wireless frontends.
  5. 7
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the relaying device comprises a processor to control data communications between the first and the second wireless frontends.
  6. 9
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the relaying device is configured to operate as a router in infrastructure mode.
  7. 10
A relaying device according to any of the preceding Claims, wherein the relaying device is configured to operate as a wireless mesh router (WMR).
  8. 11
1 1 . A wireless mesh network comprising a wireless network backbone, the wireless network backbone comprising a plurality of relaying devices according to any of the preceding Claims in data connection.
  9. 13
A wireless mesh network comprising a plurality of wireless relaying devices which collectively form a wireless mesh network backbone, wherein adjacent wireless relaying devices are to communicate with each other using WiFi or IEEE 802.1 1 infrastructure mode transmission protocol.
  10. 15
A wireless mesh network according to Claims 13 or 14, wherein the first wireless frontend of the at least one of the wireless relaying devices is configured as a client and the second wireless frontend is configured as an access point.
  11. 16
A wireless mesh network according to Claims 13 or 14, wherein both the first and second wireless frontends of the at least one of the wireless relaying devices are configured as a client.
  12. 17
1 7. A wireless mesh network according to Claims 13 or 14, wherein both the first and second wireless frontends of the at least one of the wireless relaying devices are configured as an access point client.
