14 claims: 9 independent, 5 dependent

  1. 1
A method, comprising:detecting, by a card, an object (1610) with a capacitive sensor (1614);activating an inductive sensor (1528);and detecting conductivity, by the card, using the inductive sensor.
  2. 4
The method of any preceding claim, further comprising:activating a dynamic magnetic stripe communications device (1530) upon the detection of the object (1610) by the capacitive sensor (1614) and the detection of the conductivity by the inductive sensor (1528).
  3. 5
A card, comprising:a capacitive sensor (1614) operable to detect an external object (1610);an inductive sensor (1528) operable to detect conductivity of the external object;and a processor (1518) operable to communicate data based on the detection of the external object (1610) and the conductivity of the external object (1610).
  4. 8
The card of any of claims 5 to 7, wherein the inductive sensor (1528) includes at least two coils.
  5. 10
The card of any of claims 5 to 9, further comprising an oscillator.
  6. 11
The card of any of claims5 to 10, further comprising an amplification and detection determination device (1720, 1730).
  7. 12
The card of any of claims 5 to 10, further comprising:at least one amplification and detection determination device (1720, 1730), wherein the processor (1518) is operable to communicate data based on an output of the at least one amplification and detection determination device (1720, 1730).
  8. 13
The card of any of claims 5 to 12, further comprising:a display;and a button.
  9. 14
The card of any of claims 5 to 13, further comprising:an RFID;and an EMV chip.
