  1. 1
A method of transmitting video data from a wireless source device to a wireless sink device:exchanging capability information with the wireless sink device;generating video component data;rendering pixel data for local display based on said video component data;intercepting said video component data prior to rendering pixel data for local display and for adding metadata to said video component data;transmitting the video component data and said metadata to the wireless sink device;wherein a first video component comprises a call to a graphics application program interface;wherein a second video component comprises compressed video data;wherein a third video component comprises pixel data;wherein said metadata describes how the video component data is to be assembled to render a frame for display by the wireless sink device, by identifying screen locations for said video components.
  2. 5
A wireless source device (220) configured to transmit video data to a wireless sink device, the wireless source device comprising:means for exchanging capability information with the wireless sink device;means (272) for generating video component data (273A, 273B, 273C);means (276) for rendering pixel data for local display based on said video component data;means (274) for intercepting said video component data prior to rendering pixel data for local display and for adding metadata to said video component data;means (233A, 234A) for transmitting the video component data and said metadata to the wireless sink device;wherein a first video component comprises a call to a graphics application program interface;wherein a second video component comprises compressed video data;wherein a third video component comprises pixel data;wherein said metadata describes how the video component data is to be assembled to render a frame for display by the wireless sink device, by identifying screen locations for said video components.
  3. 7
A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that upon execution by one or more processors of a wireless source device cause the device to perform a method of any of claims 1 to 4.
