    A method for modifying a parameter of operation of a system (100) for use in an automated or semi-automated hair transplantation procedure, the method comprising:providing a real-time image (305;320) of a body surface (120;230;310) where a system (100) comprising a tool (110;200;220) is used to perform an automated or semi-automated hair transplantation procedure;providing at least one historic snapshot (345;355) of the body surface (120;230;310), the at least one historic snapshot (345;355) identifying a parameter associated with hair transplantation;determining if a value of the identified parameter associated with the hair transplantation is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits;and automatically modifying by the system at least one parameter of operation of the tool (110;200;220) if the value of the identified parameter associated with the hair transplantation is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits.

    The method of any one of claims 1-3, wherein the identified parameter - is associated with the quality of the hair transplantation procedure, and/or - comprises an angle that a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) penetrates the body surface (120;230;310), and/or - is associated with or relates to a force which is applied to a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) to penetrate the body surface (120;230;310), and/or - is associated with or relates to 1) a centering of a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) about a follicular unit to be harvested or implanted, or 2) indicates whether a follicular unit was transected during harvesting.

    The method of any one of claims 1-4, wherein the hair transplantation procedure comprises an implantation site making or a hair implantation procedure.

    The method of any one of claims 1-5, comprising at least two historic snapshots (345;355), the first (345) of the at least two historic snapshots comprising an image acquired at a first instance during an automated hair transplantation event, and the second (355) of the at least two historic snapshots comprising an image acquired at a second instance during the automated hair transplantation event, preferably wherein the first instance is associated with a skin being stabilized after a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) penetrated the body surface (120;230;310) to a maximum depth of penetration, and preferably wherein the second instance is associated with substantial completion of the hair transplantation event.

    The method of any one of claims 1-7, further comprising selecting a hair transplantation tool based on the identified parameter.

    The method of any one of claims 1-8, wherein the identified parameter comprises a depth that a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) having graduation markings (210) penetrates the body surface (120;230;310), and wherein the method further comprises using the at least one or more historic snapshots (345;355) and one or more feedback adjustment policies modifying the depth in increments or continuously if the number of, or portion of, the graduation markings (210) above the body surface (120;230;310) is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits.

    The method of any one of claims 1-9, wherein the identified parameter comprises a depth that a hair transplantation tool (110;200;220) penetrates the body surface (120;230;310), the method further comprises modifying the depth based on historic tool penetration depth of one or more prior hair transplantation events.

    The method of any one of claims 1-10, wherein the identified parameter comprises a tool approach angle, the method further comprises determining if the tool approach angle needs to be modified based at least in part on a result of comparison of a minimum or maximum approach angle of the tool (110;200;220) and an emergence angle of a follicular unit of interest, preferably wherein the minimum or maximum approach angle is automatically selected based on - an average emergence angle of a plurality of follicular units in an area on a body surface (120;230;310), and/or - an interpolation procedure between correspondingly at least two minimum or at least two maximum approach angles.

    A method for modifying a parameter of operation of an apparatus for use in an at least partially automated procedure, the method comprising:providing a real-time image (305;320) of a surface (120;230;310) having an at least partially automated procedure performed thereon;providing at least one historic snapshot (345;355) of the surface (120;230;310), the at least one historic snapshot (345;355) allowing to identify whether a criterion associated with the at least partially automated procedure is met;and automatically modifying by the system at least one parameter of operation of the apparatus if the criterion is not met, modification of the at least one parameter influencing the criterion.

    The method of any one of claims 13-14, wherein the criterion comprises centering of a tool (110;200;220) of the apparatus with respect to an object of the procedure.

    The method of any one of claims 13-15, wherein identifying the criterion comprises visual or calculated identification.

    The method of any one of claims 13-16, comprising at least two historic snapshots (345;355), the first (345) of the at least two historic snapshots comprising an image acquired at a first instance during the at least partially automated procedure, and the second (355) of the at least two historic snapshots comprising an image acquired at a second instance during the at least partially automated procedure, preferably further comprising providing at least another snapshot of the surface (120;230;310) allowing to identify the influenced criterion.

    The method of any one of claims 13-17, further comprising registering a value of the criterion and comparing the registered value to a predetermined value, and if the difference between the registered value and the predetermined value is outside an acceptable range, determining the at least one parameter to modify, and automatically modifying the determined the at least one parameter.

    The method of any one of claims 13-18, wherein the at least partially automated procedure is a hair transplantation procedure, a site making procedure, a tattoo placement or removal procedure, an ablation procedure, a cosmetic injection procedure, an ophthalmic procedure, or procedure for treating dermatological condition, preferably wherein the at least one parameter comprises a depth that a tool (110;200;220) having graduation markings (210) penetrates the surface (120;230;310), the method further comprise modifying the depth if the number of, or portion of, the graduation markings (210) above the surface (120;230;310) is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits.

    The method of any one of claims 13-19, further comprising providing a user interface configured to allow a user to adjust or override automatic modification of the parameter of operation of the apparatus.

    The method of any one of claims 13-20, wherein the apparatus comprises a tool (110;200;220) for performing the procedure and the at least one parameter comprises an angle of operation of the tool (110;200;220) and/or a rotation speed of the tool (110;200;220) and/or a force applied to the tool (110;200;220).

    A system (100) for modifying a parameter of operation of a tool for use with an automated hair transplantation procedure, the system comprising:an interface configured to receive a real-time image (305;320) of a body surface (120;230;310) having an automated or semi-automated hair transplantation procedure performed thereon and at least one historic snapshot (345;355) of the body surface (120;230;310), the at least one historic snapshot (345;355) identifying a parameter associated with hair transplantation;and a processor (125) configured to execute a program including one or more modules comprising instructions for: 1) determining if a value of the identified parameter associated with hair transplantation is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits, and 2) modifying and/or allowing modification of at least one parameter of operation of the tool (110;200;220) if the value of the identified parameter associated with hair transplantation is outside one or more acceptable or desirable limits.

    The system of any one of claims 22-25, further comprising a modification interface, the modification interface preferably comprising one or more from the following list:a keyboard (145), a mouse (150), a voice or speech recognition device, a laser pointer, touch screen (140), tablet computer, personal digital assistant (PDA), or a remote user input device.

    A system for modifying a parameter of operation of an apparatus for use in an at least partially automated procedure, the system comprising:an interface configured to receive a real-time image (305;320) of a surface (120;230;310) having an automated procedure performed thereon and at least one historic snapshot (345;355) of the surface (120;230;310), the at least one snapshot allowing to identify whether a criterion associated with the at least partially automated procedure is met;and a processor (125) configured to execute a program including one or more modules comprising instructions for modifying and/or allowing modification of at least one parameter of operation of the apparatus if the criterion is not met, modification of the at least one parameter of operation of the apparatus influencing the criterion.
