  1. 1
A wireless power receiver (300) to wirelessly receive power from a wireless power transmitter (200) which receives power from a power supply device (100) and transmit the power to a load (400), the wireless power receiver (300) comprising:a receiving unit (320) including a reception resonant coil (310) configured to receive AC power from the wireless power transmitter (200) through resonance between the reception resonant coil (310) and a transmission resonant coil (220) of the wireless power transmitter (200) which are resonance-coupled with each other and configured to transmit power by operating at a resonant frequency;a rectifying unit (330) to rectify the received AC power to DC power;characterized by a power managing unit (360, 370) to manage the power transmitted to the load(400) based on the rectified DC power, wherein the power managing unit (360, 370) comprises: a controller (362, 371) to detect the rectified DC power and generate a signal to adjust the AC power to be received from the wireless power transmitter (200) according to the rectified DC power;a modulation unit (363) to transmit the signal to the wireless power transmitter (200) through out-of band communication at a specific frequency band other than the resonant frequency band;and a voltage restriction unit (361) to absorb an over-voltage equal or greater than a second threshold value, if the rectified DC power is the second threshold value or more, wherein the power managing unit (360, 370) is configured to transmit a signal to increase power to the power supply device (100) and/or the transmitter (200) to maintain the power transmitted to the load (400) to a first threshold value, if the rectified DC power is less than the first threshold value, and the first threshold value is a minimum power required to normally operate the load (400), and wherein the power managing unit (360, 370) is configured to transmit a signal to decrease power to the power supply device (100) and/or the transmitter (200) to maintain the power transmitted to the load (400) to the first threshold value, if the rectified DC power is equal to or greater than the second threshold value, and the second threshold value is greater than the first threshold value.
  2. 8
A method of managing power in a wireless power receiver (300) to wirelessly receive power from a wireless power transmitter (200) and transmit the power to a load (400), the method comprising:receiving AC power from the wireless power transmitter (200) through resonance between the wireless power receiver (300) and the wireless power transmitter (200) which are resonance-coupled with each other and transmit power by operating at a resonant frequency;rectifying the AC power to DC power;and managing power transmitted to the load (400) based on the rectified DC power, wherein the managing power includes: detecting the rectified DC power with a controller (362, 371);generating with the controller (362, 371) a signal to adjust the AC power to be received from the wireless power transmitter (200) according to the rectified DC power;transmitting with a modulation unit (363) the signal to the wireless power transmitter (200) through out-of band communication at a specific frequency band other than the resonant frequency band;and absorbing an over-voltage equal or greater than a second threshold value, if the rectified DC power is the second threshold value or more using a voltage restriction unit (361), wherein the second threshold value is corresponding to a power to prevent the load (400) from being damaged, wherein the controller (371) transmits a power increase signal to the modulation unit (363) to maintain the power transmitted to the load (400) to a first threshold value, if the rectified DC power is less than the first threshold value, wherein the controller (371) transmits a power decrease signal to the modulation unit (363) to maintain the power transmitted to the load (400) to the first threshold value corresponding to a minimum power required to normally operate the load (400), if the rectified DC power is the second threshold or more, wherein the second threshold value is greater than the first threshold value.
