    Claims of equivalent WO 2012009441 A2 WE CLAIM:1. A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform for providing translated web content, comprising the steps of: receiving a request from a user for content in a second language translated from content in a first language from a first Internet source;obtaining the content in the first language from the first Internet source;dividing the content in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;determining whether the one or more translatable components have been previously translated, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language and stored as translated components in a storage, wherein each segment of text is translated as a unit;and if there are one or more translatable components previously translated and stored as translated components, generating the content in the second language by modifying the content in the first language so that at least some translatable components are replaced with corresponding translated components, and sending the content in the second language to the user as a response to the request.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform for providing translated web content, comprising the steps of:receiving a request from a user for content in a second language translated from content in a first language accessible from a first Internet source;obtaining the content in the first language from the first Internet source;dividing the content in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;determining whether any of the translatable components does not have a corresponding translated component stored in the storage and generated previously via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;scheduling for translation of the translatable components that do not have corresponding translated components via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof to generate the corresponding translated components, wherein each segment of text is translated as a unit;and storing the corresponding translated components in the storage.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform for managing language translation, comprising the steps of:accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, content in a first language;identifying a portion of the content in the first language that is not yet translated into a second language;and scheduling for translation of the portion of the content in the first language that is not yet translated into a second language using at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof to produce corresponding content in the second language.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for facilitating selection of a preferred language associated with a website, comprising the steps of:receiving, via the communication platform, information including information relating to a user;analyzing automatically the received information to estimate a preferred language in which the user likely uses to view content from the website;displaying a selector, with an available selection of a language that most closely matches the estimated preferred language, to allow the user to specify the user's preferred language with respect to the website;storing the user's preferred language;and redirecting the user to the website in the user's preferred language.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for facilitating selection of a preferred language associated with a website, comprising the steps of:receiving, via the communication platform, information including information relating to a user viewing a web page in a first language;analyzing the received information to determine a second language that the user likely prefers to view the web page in;if the second language differs from the first language, displaying a selector, with an available selection of a language that most closely matches the second language, to allow the user to specify the user's preferred language with respect to the website;storing the specified user's preferred language;and redirecting the user to the web page in the specified user's preferred language.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message in telecommunications, comprising the steps of:receiving a request for translating a current message in a first language into a current message in a second language destined for a user;determining whether the current message in the first language has been previously translated into a corresponding message in the second language;if the corresponding message in the second language exists, generating the current message in the second language based on the corresponding message in the second language previously translated;and sending the current message in the second language to the user as a response to the request.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message in telecommunications, comprising the steps of:receiving a request for translating a current message in a first language into a translated message in a second language destined for a user;scheduling for translation at least a portion of the current message in the first language;receiving the translation of the at least a portion of the current message in the first language in the second language, where the translation is performed via human translation;generating the translated message in the second language by replacing the at least a portion of the current message in the first language with the translation of the at least a portion of the current message in the first language;and sending the translated message in the second language to the user.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message, comprising the steps of:receiving a request from an Internet source with a message in a first language for translation into a corresponding message in a second language destined for a user;dividing the message in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;determining whether any translatable component has been previously translated, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language and stored as a translated component;if there is at least one translatable component previously translated and stored as a translated component, generating the corresponding message in the second language by replacing each of the at least one translatable component with a corresponding translated component;and sending the generated corresponding message in the second language to the user.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message, comprising the steps of:receiving a request from an Internet source with a message in a first language for translation into a corresponding message in a second language destined for a user;dividing the message in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;determining whether there is at least one translatable component which has no corresponding translated component generated previously via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;scheduling for translation of the at least one translatable component that does not have corresponding translated component via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;receiving the translation of the at least one translatable component as corresponding translated component;generating the corresponding message in the second language by replacing the at least one translatable component in the message in the first language with the corresponding translated component;and sending the generated corresponding message in the second language to the user.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message, comprising the steps of:receiving a request with a message in a first language from an Internet source;dividing the message in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;determining whether any translatable component has been previously translated, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language and stored as corresponding translated component;if the corresponding translated component exists, generating the message in the second language by replacing each of the at least one translatable component with a corresponding translated component;and sending the message in the second language to the user.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing a translated message, comprising the steps of. receiving a request with a message in a first language based on which the translated message in a second language is to be generated;dividing the message in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;identifying at least one translatable component for which no corresponding translated component in the second language is generated previously via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;scheduling for translation of at least one translatable component that does not have a corresponding translated component, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language;receiving the translation of the at least one translatable component as corresponding translated component;and generating the translated message in the second language based on the corresponding translated component for each of the at least one translatable component.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing localized content with respect to a website, comprising the steps of:receiving a request for content where the request includes information related to a user;retrieving one or more pieces of localized content associated with at least one condition when it is determined that the at least one condition is consistent with the information related to the user, where each localized content is localized with respect to the content requested;identifying at least one of the retrieved localized content when the information related to the user meets the associated at least one condition;and sending the identified at least one localized content as a response to the received request for content.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for managing localization of content with respect to a web page, comprising the steps of:designating a location of a web page where content originally intended to be displayed therein can be localized;providing one or more versions of localized content, each of which is localized with respect to the content originally intended to be displayed at the location;associating each version of localized content with one or more conditions, based on which the localized content can be retrieved to replace the content originally intended to be displayed at the location;and storing the one or more versions of the localized content with the associated one or more conditions with respect to the content originally intended to be displayed at the location of the web page so that the localized content can be retrieved in the future when the one or more conditions are met.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for managing content localization with respect to a web page, comprising the steps of:marking up a web page to specify one or more locations on the web page where content to be displayed is to be localized;generating one or more pieces of localized content for each of the locations, where each piece of localized content is associated with at least one condition that needs to be satisfied in order for the piece of localized content to be displayed on the web page;storing the one or more pieces of localized content with respect to their respective at least one condition;and associating each piece of localized content with a corresponding respective location on the web page to facilitate future retrieval of a piece of localized content for each location of the web page.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for localizing content with respect to a website, comprising the steps of:receiving a request for content that includes information related to a user and to a location on a web page;retrieving one or more pieces of localized content associated with the location on the web page;identifying a piece of retrieved localized content that is associated with conditions that match the information related to the user;and sending the identified piece of localized content as a response to the request.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing translated web content with translated Universal Resource Locators (URLs), comprising the steps of:receiving a request from a user for content in a second language translated from content in a first language that is accessible from a first Internet source;obtaining the content in the first language from the first Internet source;identifying, from the content in the first language, one or more links, each represented by an original URL;dividing each original URL into one or more translatable URL components in the first language, wherein a translatable URL component includes a segment of text;determining whether the one or more translatable URL components in each original URL have been previously translated, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language and stored as translated URL components;if there is at least one translatable URL component previously translated and stored as a corresponding translated URL component, generating a translated URL in the second language for each original URL by replacing each previously translated translatable URL component in the original URL with a corresponding translated URL component;creating the content in the second language with translated URLs by replacing the original URLs in the first language with corresponding translated URLs in the second language;and sending the content in the second language to the user as a response to the request.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for managing language translation of URLs, comprising the steps of:accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, content in a first language;identifying, from the content in the first language, one or more links, each represented by an original URL;dividing each original URL into one or more translatable URL components in the first language, wherein a translatable URL component includes a segment of text;identifying at least one translatable URL component in the first language in the original URLs that is not yet translated into a second language;scheduling for translation of the at least one translatable URL component in the first language that are not yet translated into a second language via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;generating corresponding translated URL components in the second language based on the translation of the translatable URL components;creating a translated URL in the second language by replacing each translatable URL component in each of the original URLs with a corresponding translated URL components;and storing the translated URL with respect to the original URL.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing URLs, comprising the steps of:identifying relevant text in a first language from a first web page associated with an original URL;scheduling for translation of the identified text in the first language into a translated text in a second language via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;generating a translated URL in the second language, representing the first web page, based on the translated text in the second language;storing the translated URL in the second language as being associated with the original URL;and replacing the original URL with the translated URL wherever the original URL appears on a second web page in the first language that is being translated into the second language.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for managing the translation of URLs, comprising the steps of:accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, content in a first language represented by an original URL;dividing the content in the first language into one or more translatable components, wherein a translatable component includes a segment of text;identifying one or more relevant translatable components that are not yet translated into a second language;scheduling for translation of the identified relevant translatable components into a second language via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof;generating a translated URL in the second language based on the translation of the relevant translatable components;and storing the translated URL in association with the original URL for retrieval in order to create a translated URL in the second language representing the content in the second language.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for improving URLs, comprising the steps of:accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, web content represented by an original URL;dividing the content in the first language into one or more segments of text;identifying one or more relevant segments of text that are considered to characterize the web content;converting the one or more relevant segments of text into a format suitable for being used to create an improved URL by modifying the original URL;applying the improved URL to represent the web content to facilitate Internet search;and storing the original URL in association with the improved URL.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for providing translated web content with translated URLs, comprising the steps of:receiving a request from a user for content in a second language translated from content in a first language accessible from a first Internet source;obtaining the content in the first language from the first Internet source;identifying, from the content in the first language, one or more links, each represented by an original URL;determining whether one or more of the original URLs have been previously translated, via at least one of machine translation, human translation, and a combination thereof, into the second language and stored as translated URLs;if there are one or more translated URLs associated with the original URLs, generating the content in the second language via modifying the content in the first language including replacing the original URLs with corresponding translated URLs in the second language;and sending the content in the second language to the user as a response to the request.

    A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for improved Internet search, comprising the steps of:receiving a request for web content represented by a search engine optimized URL;obtaining an original URL corresponding to the search engine optimized URL, where the original URL represents the web content;accessing the requested web content based on the original URL;and sending the accessed web content as a response to the request.
