The invention relates to the preparation of beverages or the like from an extraction material contained in a capsule, for example ground coffee. It relates in particular to a piercable capsule as portion packaging and to a method for the production thereof and to a beverage preparation system.
Extraction devices for preparing beverages from an extraction material present in a portion packaging are known, for example, as coffee or espresso machines and continue to enjoy increasing popularity. In many corresponding systems, the portion packages are designed as capsules, in which the extraction material, for example, is airtight. For extraction, the capsule is pierced on two opposite sides. On the first side, an extraction liquid - generally hot water - is introduced. On the second side, the extraction product is discharged from the capsule. Depending on the beverage and system to be prepared, a considerable pressure of, for example, 5-20 bar must prevail inside the capsule.
As capsule materials in particular aluminum and plastics, for example. Polypropylene have become known. Aluminum capsules provide a very good durability of the extraction material, but are energy-consuming to produce.
Polypropylene capsules are advantageous in terms of energy consumption and disposal, but place increased demands on the piercing mechanism.
Capsules with integrated filter media are available on the market, as well as capsules which only have a casing enclosing the material to be extracted. For the latter, the piercing mechanism must be designed so that extraction material can not be removed from the capsule in an undesired manner together with the extraction product.
An example of a capsule without integrated filter means is, for example, in <patcit id="pcit0001" dnum="EP1886942A"><text>EP 1 886 942</text></patcit> disclosed.
A cup-shaped capsule is in the <patcit id="pcit0002" dnum="EP1344722A"><text>EP 1 344 722</text></patcit> taught. The capsule according to this document has, in the interior of the capsule, a distribution or collection element which separates a first region of the capsule to be filled with water or the beverage from a second region which contains the extraction material. The distribution or collection member is provided with a plurality of liquid channels for distributing the water or collecting the beverage and designed and arranged so that it is not pierced by the perforating means of the coffee machine.
Next are, for example, from the <patcit id="pcit0003" dnum="US20050051478A"><text>US 2005/0051478</text></patcit> Capsules with an integrated filter known. The filter takes over the function of a paper filter of a known filter coffee machine: in the area provided with the extraction material of the capsule is injected by a piercing tip under low pressure or no pressure water, and after the extraction process, the coffee passes through a capsule own paper filter in a collecting area, from where he is led away by another piercing tip.
From the <patcit id="pcit0004" dnum="WO2008011913A"><text>WO 2008/011913</text></patcit> For example, a capsule is known which has an outlet closed by a crema-forming tissue. The capsule also has a safety lid which has a shoulder holding the tissue in place. On the side opposite to the outlet there is a closure which forms a recess which is annular around an inlet.
From the <patcit id="pcit0005" dnum="EP1440910A1"><text>EP 1 440 910 A1</text></patcit> is a capsule with an empty area in the capsule interior known.
Filter coffee still enjoys great popularity in many regions. Often larger portions of up to 3 or 4 dl filter coffee are filled into coffee mugs. When such filter coffee is to be prepared from a portion capsule, often a coffee quantity of, for example, 6-8 g, as found in known portion capsules of espresso machines, is not enough. Therefore, in markets with a preference for filter coffee, the portioned coffee machines are not widely used. Where they are still used, the capsules are significantly larger than the bekantes capsules known for espresso capsule systems. The coffee machines have a larger brewing space adapted for larger portion pods and a pump configured accordingly for conveying large quantities of hot water under low pressure. For the brewing of espresso coffee machines are therefore not suitable.
However, it would be advantageous if the lovers of filter coffee could brew an espresso either with the means available to them.
It is an object of the invention to find a solution to this problem. In particular, this solution should allow lovers of both larger volume filter coffee (and larger amounts of coffee) and espresso coffee to enjoy these two drinks without having to own two completely different appliances.
This object is achieved by the invention as defined in the claims.
According to a first aspect of the invention, a portion capsule is provided for a brewed beverage, in particular a coffee capsule, the outer dimensions of which are matched to the size of a capsule for a large portion of filter coffee (eg 300 ml or more) but which has a separating element, which separates an empty area from an extraction area. Further, at least one liquid channel is present, which traverses the empty area, for example. The liquid channel (s) and the extraction material region are designed in such a way that water introduced into the capsule at an injection site or beverage produced in the capsule does not essentially enter the empty region.
The extraction material region, the empty region, the separating element and the liquid channels are all arranged inside the capsule, ie in the volume enclosed by the outer wall.
In general, the empty area is bounded by the separating element on the one hand and by a part of the wall of the capsule on the other hand.
In the present text is under low pressure of, for example, less than 5 bar, in particular 3 bar or less and brewed in larger quantities of liquid coffee referred to as 'filter coffee', while under high pressure, for example, more than 5 bar or more than 8 bar brewed coffee drinks under the term "espresso" are summarized. The term "filter coffee" thus also includes coffee drinks, in the brewing process no actual filter is present, and "espresso" includes, for example, the "espresso lungo".
The filling of a large capsule with a volume of, for example, 30 ml with a small amount of coffee of, for example, about 7 g has not proven to be a favorable option, since in such a configuration, the coffee powder would only swirl and no espresso could be brewed.
The procedure according to the first aspect thus makes it possible for a portion capsule having a comparatively large volume to have a volume-reduced filling area, namely the area of the extraction material, in which a reduced quantity of coffee is present. Due to the liquid channels, however, unlike approaches known from the prior art, not the entire outer capsule volume (the entire capsule interior) is filled with liquid. For the preparation of espresso the pumping power of a liquid pump and / or the important for the beverage quality cycle time therefore not have to be greater than in known espresso machines due to the higher capsule volume. There is also the disadvantage that a larger (in comparison to bekante capsules) larger capsule volume larger amount of beverage would have to be brewed, and / or that the capsule after the brewing process would be filled to a large percentage with hot water or beverage. The volume difference between a 'big' capsule for filter coffee - this should take up to about 15 grams of coffee or more and therefore have a usable volume for the filling of about 30-34 ml - and an espresso capsule with one about half large volume is quite relevant compared to the liquid volume of an average espresso of, for example, 25 ml-40 ml.
In comparison to conceivable systems with a coffee machine, which is designed for different sized capsules, there is the advantage that the coffee machine for capsule systems according to the first aspect of the invention only needs a brewing room to brew coffee with different filling volumes. Therefore, the supply and routing lines to and from the brewing chamber, the piercing means, the movement device for closing the brewing chamber, etc., must not be provided in duplicate.
The void region may be a void region formed by the outer capsule wall and the separator and filled substantially only with air or an inert gas; also a suitable filling material, for example. Based on a solid foam, may be present in the empty area. The empty area can be traversed by the then, for example, tubular liquid channels, which lead to the extraction material area. Among the embodiments with the liquid channels passing through the empty region and leading to the extraction material region, those in which the empty region on the injection side and the extraction material region on the extraction side of the capsule are often particularly favorable. The positions of the fluid channels are then matched to the positions of injection tips of the coffee machine brewing module,
The fluid channels do not necessarily have to traverse the void area in the sense that they are completely surrounded by the void area, but they may, for example, also be guided along a lateral wall.
In embodiments in which the liquid is injected on the side of the void area, the injection site will generally be defined by the point of impact of the liquid channels on an injection-side outer wall. The position of the piercing tips of the brewing module is then matched to the capsule in such a way that the outer wall is perforated at the corresponding location and that the piercing opening extends only over a surface region covered by the corresponding liquid channel.
However, it is not excluded that the injection side, a specially provided collection area is present, from which the liquid in the liquid channels and of these subsequently in the extraction area.
In embodiments in which the liquid is injected on the side of the extraction material region, the corresponding considerations apply to the location of the piercing tips of the diversion device.
The procedure according to the first aspect of the invention can be carried out with different injection and diversion devices. These include, on the one hand, systems in which the capsule is simultaneously pierced on the injection side and on the extraction side (on the side of the diversion device). These have the advantage, among other things, that they also work if - for example for the brewing of filter coffee - the pressure of the water introduced is not high. On the other hand, however, the procedure is also suitable for systems in which an extraction-side perforation of the capsule happens only after introduction of brewing water by the pressure then arising. An example of a system suitable for polypropylene capsules can be found in<patcit id="pcit0006" dnum="CH2010000098W"><text>PCT / CH2010 / 000098</text></patcit>, the contents of which form a part of the present patent application by reference.
The procedure according to the first aspect of the invention can also be realized with a variety of capsule outer shapes and configurations. Among them is the well-known rotationally symmetrical cup shape, but also alternative forms, such as in the<patcit id="pcit0007" dnum="CH2010000097W"><text>PCT / CH2010 / 000097</text></patcit> The content of which is also incorporated herein by reference.
The separating element may be or have a dividing wall; however, the shape of the separator is not critical.
The separating element is formed by an insert part to be inserted into the capsule. This forms a dividing wall between the extraction material region and the empty region and the at least one liquid channel. It is so constructed and / or sealingly connected to an outer capsule wall that liquid introduced into the capsule does not enter the empty region in substantial quantities.
Between the extraction material region and the liquid channel, a plurality of passage openings may be formed, which allow a passage of the liquid, but which are designed so that the coffee powder does not enter in substantial quantities in the liquid channel. For example, the passage openings may be formed narrowing towards the liquid channel. This shape has the effect that coffee powder in the funnel-like conical area gets caught / wedged. In general, however, the insert or the otherwise configured separating element will have no filter function, but merely serve the separation between the extraction material region and the empty region and possibly the formation of the liquid channels.
It is also also possible that the liquid channels themselves are filled with extraction material and thus at least partially form the extraction material region.
The sealing of the at least one liquid channel to the leeward area takes place in that the insert part is liquid-tightly connected to the outer wall of the capsule where the liquid channel strikes the outer wall. This compound may be a (ultrasonic) weld joint, a bond or other suitable compound. Alternatively, another suitable sealing connection can be provided, for example by an elastically deformable sealing element of the liquid channel is pressed against the outer wall.
A sealing of the area of the extraction material towards the leeward area may, for example, likewise be effected by a liquid-tight connection (welding, gluing) of the insert part or of the separating element to the outer wall. Alternatively, the insert part or the separating element may have a sealing element which is elastically deformable and pressed against the outer wall. In particular, such a sealing element can be designed such that it is additionally pressed against the outer wall by an internal pressure in the area of the extraction material. The sealing element may, for example, be an outwardly projecting sealing flap.
Alternatively or additionally, a sealing flap may also be clamped between assembled parts of the capsule outer wall, creating a labyrinth seal-like effect.
The outer volume of a portion capsule according to the first aspect of the invention is, for example, between 25 to 40 ml. A ratio between the volume of the extraction material region and the capsule outer volume is preferably at least 1.4, in particular at least 1.6.
According to a second aspect of the invention, which is particularly advantageously combined with the first aspect of the invention, a coffee preparation system according to claim 10 is provided.
The two volumes of the first and of the second extraction material region differ significantly, for example, in that the first volume is at least 1.4 times the second volume, in particular at least 1.6 times the second volume.
The first volume is preferably also significantly larger than the filling volume of conventional espresso portion capsules and is, for example, 25 ml or more. In particular, the volume may be between 25 and 40 ml for a capacity of about 10-18 g of coffee.
In preferred embodiments, the coffee capsules of the first type are completely filled with coffee, that is to say the first volume corresponds to a total coffee capsule volume (ie the volume determined by the external dimensions minus the volume of the generally comparatively thin outer wall).
The coffee machine is also preferably arranged to control the liquid pump in two different operating states to produce two different pumping pressures, with a first pumping pressure below 5 bar and below 3 bar and a second pumping pressure above 8 bar or above 5 bar.
The capsules of the second type (or capsules according to the first aspect of the invention) and coffee maker are coordinated so that injection takes place on the side of the void area.
Embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to drawings. In the drawings, like reference characters designate like or analogous elements. The drawings are not to scale and show partially corresponding elements in different sizes from figure to figure. 0044The capsule 1 according to <figref idref="f0001"><b>FIG. 1</b></figref> is essentially cube-shaped. However, the side lying in the figure above is slightly larger than the bottom, so that the capsule strictly mathematically has a truncated pyramid shape. The angle of inclination α of the lateral surfaces in the figure with respect to the perpendicular to the base surface-of course that plane perpendicular to the base plane which runs through the edge between the base surface and the corresponding lateral surface-is very small, preferably at most 2 °, for example only about 1 °. In addition, the height of the capsule over the base corresponds approximately to the length of the base edges.
The capsule outer wall is made of an in <figref idref="f0001"><b>FIG. 2</b></figref> illustrated capsule body 11 and a in <figref idref="f0001"><b>FIG. 3</b></figref> illustrated lid 12 produced by ultrasonic cutting welding process. Concerning the capsule outer wall and method for its production, reference is made to the international patent application<patcit id="pcit0008" dnum="CH2010000097W"><text>PCT / CH2010 / 000097</text></patcit> taken. Clearly visible are the very slightly different from 0 ° angle α of about 1 ° and the circulating Welding brow 14, which protrudes laterally by a maximum of about d = 0.35 mm sideways, ie a maximum of about 2-3%.
The outer wall of the capsule is made of polypropylene with a wall thickness of 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm, preferably between 0.2 mm and 0.4 mm, for example. Between 0.25 mm and 0.35 mm. Other materials are conceivable, in particular other food-compatible plastics. The wall thickness of the outer wall is approximately the same on all sides, for example. The outer length of the cube edges is preferably between 30 mm and 34 mm, for a capacity of 12-18 g of coffee.
In contrast to the capsule according to <patcit id="pcit0009" dnum="CH2010000097W"><text>PCT / CH2010 / 000097</text></patcit> the capsule 1 according to the present description is not only filled with the extraction product (ground coffee) and homogeneous inside. Rather, in the interior of the capsule, an insert 21 is present, as in<figref idref="f0002 f0003"><b>Figures 4-7</b></figref> is shown. This is, for example, also made of polypropylene and has a partition wall forming the partition 22, which, when arranged in the capsule interior, a in the<figref idref="f0002">FIG. 4</figref> overhead extraction material range of one in <figref idref="f0002">FIG. 4</figref> separates the lower lying empty area of the capsule. From the partition wall 22 to the side of the void area extend tubular extensions 24, which have an approximately hollow cylindrical shape and serve as the liquid channels. Between the extensions 24 and on the outside at these optional strut-like reinforcements 26 are still present, which extend as the liquid channels in the empty area. Between the interior of the liquid channels and the extraction material region, the partition wall of regions with through openings 28 is interspersed. Through this occurs during the brewing the hot brewing water in<figref idref="f0002">FIG. 4</figref> below in the extraction material area, where it soaks the extraction material in a conventional manner.
In the illustrated embodiment, the insert also has a collar-like projecting to the extraction good side circumferential wall 29. This forms together with the partition wall a cup-like structure in which the extraction material or a part thereof is located.
In <figref idref="f0004"><b>FIG. 8</b></figref> one sees schematically how the insert 21 is arranged inside the capsule 1. It can also be seen that the capsule is divided by the insert into three types of areas. The extraction material area 31 is defined by the in<figref idref="f0004">FIG. 8</figref> horizontal partition 22 separated from the empty area 32. The liquid channels formed by the extensions 24 separate the liquid channel regions 33, together with the region 28 of the dividing wall 22 penetrated through the passage openings. The extensions extend to the empty area outer wall of the capsule and are connected to this example, liquid-tight. For the brewing process, the capsule outer wall is punctured on the injection side in the region of the liquid channels by a perforation means which is dimensioned such that the capsule is perforated only in the region of the liquid channel regions 33 and the brewing liquid only in these regions and not in the adjacent empty region 32 is injected. In<figref idref="f0004">FIG. 8</figref> are shown dashed and schematically represented injection-side perforation 41, at the position where they begin to the perforation, which is effected by a relative movement of the tips from the position shown to the capsule center out. The liquid passes under pressure through the passage openings 28 into the extraction material region 31, where a brewing process of the type known per se takes place. The exit of the drink takes place through perforations in the<figref idref="f0004">FIG. 8</figref> overhead capsule wall. The extraction-side perforation 42 are in<figref idref="f0004">Fig. 8</figref> drawn schematically in the position in which they begin to perforation. When closing a brewing chamber, which has the perforation 41, 42, for example, the injection-side perforation 41 and the extraction-side perforation 42 are simultaneously pushed through the outer capsule wall; however, as mentioned above, only the injection-side perforation tips can first perforate, and piercing through the extraction-side perforation tips can be accomplished by deforming the capsule under the pressure of the brewing liquid.
In <figref idref="f0003"><b>FIG. 6</b></figref> Other features become clearly visible.
On the one hand, it can be seen that the passage openings 28 are not cylindrical, but narrow conically downwards - ie towards the empty area. This embodiment has the purpose and the effect that coffee powder caught / wedged in the funnel-like conical region and even then does not enter the liquid channel region 33 when the capsule is exposed to mechanical shocks. This also works if the passages at their narrowest point have a larger diameter than the average particle size of the coffee powder.
On the other hand is in <figref idref="f0003">FIG. 6</figref> visible that the tubular extensions 24, which form the liquid channels, on its end side (ie the empty area end side) have a tapered comb 24.1, which acts in an ultrasonic welding of the insert to the empty area end side outer wall as an energy directors.
In <figref idref="f0004"><b>FIG. 9</b></figref> is still a detail shown, which in <figref idref="f0001 f0002 f0003 f0004">Figures 3-8</figref> is not present, but in the embodiment of the <figref idref="f0001 f0002 f0003 f0004">Figures 1-8</figref> can be present. At the edge 29.1 of the peripheral wall 29, an outwardly projecting lobe 29.2 is formed, which here is integral with the circumferential wall 29 and flexible due to its thickness, 'above' (ie to the extraction material side) or to 'down' (ie to the blank page can dodge). When inserting in the in<figref idref="f0004">FIG. 8</figref> shown position, the tab 29.2 is pressed by the outer wall inwards and upwards.
The tab 29.2 has a sealing effect during the brewing process and prevents the brewed beverage due to the Brühdrucks inside the Extracts can reach the outside on the outer wall along back to the empty area. The brewing pressure in the interior of the extraction material area will push the caps 29.2 outwards against the capsule outer wall, which may be supported by external means of the brewing chamber, and thus reinforce the sealing effect automatically.
Under certain circumstances, it may additionally be provided that the flap is clamped due to its position during closure of the capsule in Trennschweiss process between the initially existing and separated during the Trennschweissverfahrens circumferential collar 14.1 of the capsule body 11 and the lid 12 and so by the closure of the capsule a Type labyrinth seal or even a material bond between the capsule wall and the insert is formed. This is in<figref idref="f0004"><b>FIG. 10</b></figref> shown. <figref idref="f0004">FIG. 10</figref> shows a detail of the capsule at the point at which the lid 12 is connected to the capsule body by the separation welding method. Since the connection is a welded joint and thus a material bond, no dividing line between the material of the capsule body 11 and the material of the lid 12 is visible. The dashed line 15 shows the approximate course transition between capsule body and lid. The circumferential collar 14.1 has been separated in the separation welding process.
The tab 29.2 is clamped as shown in the area of the welding brow between the cover and the capsule body, which acts as a sealing means in the sense of a labyrinth seal. Eventually, the collar may also be welded to the capsule body and / or lid. The capsule is produced as follows:
In a first step, the capsule body 11 is provided and the insert 21 is inserted into this. Then, the end sides of the extensions 24 of the insert 21 are welded by ultrasonic welding to the 'bottom' of the capsule body. Subsequently, the capsule is filled with the extraction material. Then, the cover is attached to the capsule body by means of the Trennschweissverfahrens, which optionally, as mentioned, the flap of the insert can be clamped or even welded.
Some alternative embodiments of capsules according to the invention will be discussed below. In this discussion, we will only discuss the differences from the capsule discussed above. The principles and features of the embodiment described above also apply - as far as applicable - for the alternative embodiments.
The insert according to <figref idref="f0005"><b>FIG. 11</b></figref> has no circumferential wall, but consists only of the partition 22 and the extensions 24 with the optional reinforcements 26. Optionally, directly to the partition then a not shown in the figure circumferential flap may be present according to the principle discussed has a sealing effect.
The only very schematically illustrated capsule according to <figref idref="f0005"><b>FIG. 12</b></figref> differs from the embodiments described above in that the extraction material region 31 and the liquid channel regions 33 are contiguous and merge into one another. The partition wall 22 is thus interrupted at the transition to the liquid channels, and the extraction material also passes into the liquid channels. The in<figref idref="f0005">FIG. 12</figref> dotted area indicates how the extraction material is distributed. The principle according to<figref idref="f0005">FIG. 12</figref> may of course be provided for embodiments with or without a circumferential wall and for embodiments with or without the sealing flap.
This in <figref idref="f0005">FIG. 12</figref> drawn principle can still be modified. For example, a single existing liquid channel or multiple liquid channels can be widened so that the liquid channel (s) form the entire range of extraction material. The liquid channel (s) will then be filled with extraction material and pass through the entire capsule interior to the top. An upper-side seal can be effected, for example, by an upwardly and inwardly projecting sealing flap. Alternatively, with a suitable choice of the energy directors, the insert forming the liquid channel / channels may be simultaneously welded to the capsule outer wall both on the upper side and on the underside.
In the <figref idref="f0005"><b>FIG. 13</b></figref> shown capsule differs from the embodiments described above by their outer shape. The capsule has the shape of a conically downward (ie to the void area) tapering, rotationally symmetrical cup with an outwardly projecting collar. In the region of the collar of the cup-like capsule body 11 is welded to the flat cover 12. The insert 21 has a correspondingly adapted shape, ie the partition wall 22 is disk-shaped. Otherwise, the same principles apply as in the embodiments described above.
In the above description of embodiments, it has been assumed that the injection of the brewing liquid takes place on the side of the empty area and the discharge on the side of the extraction area. This is a particularly favorable arrangement, inter alia, because then no scalded, in the liquid channels after the brewing process remaining beverage 'wasted' is, and also because possibly no constipation problem in the area of the openings can arise, since only water is passed through them. However, it is also quite an option to provide the reverse, to introduce the brewing liquid directly into the extraction material area and to discharge the beverage through the liquid channels.
<figref idref="f0006"><b>FIG. 14</b></figref> shows a brewing module of a coffee machine. The brewing module can, for example, according to the teaching of<patcit id="pcit0010" dnum="CH2010000099W"><text>PCT / CH2010 / 000099</text></patcit> be formed (with or without capsule compression means), the content of which forms a part of the present patent application by reference.
The brewing module forms in a closed state (in <figref idref="f0006">FIG. 14</figref> is the sake of clarity, a non-closed state illustrates) a brewing chamber whose geometry and dimension is matched to a corresponding capsule. Due to the procedure according to the invention, the brewing module is set up both for capsules with a large filling quantity and without a separating element and for capsules with a reduced filling quantity and with a separating element.
The brewing module, in a manner known per se, has a discharge device 103 and an injector 104, which are guided, for example, driven by a pivotable operating lever, between a framework with two vertical guide walls.
In <figref idref="f0006">FIG. 14</figref> clearly visible is the throw-in opening 107 for inserting the here essentially cubic portion capsule. The throw-in opening 107 is formed in the framework, is located in the region of the diversion device 103 and, like the latter, remains stationary during a movement of the operating lever. The throw-in opening 107 may be slightly conical towards the bottom so as to have a centering effect on the capsule during insertion without the risk of tilting of the capsule being too great.
The capsule insert capsules with separating element (here with insert, which forms a partition) is carried out so that the in <figref idref="f0001">FIGS. 1</figref>. <figref idref="f0002">4</figref>. <figref idref="f0003">6</figref>. <figref idref="f0004">8th</figref>. <figref idref="f0005">11, 12</figref> bottom side (corresponding to the page with the empty area) on the injector side, ie in <figref idref="f0006">Fig. 14</figref> right.
In the operating state, the brewing module serves as a horizontal brewing module of a coffee machine which, in addition to the brewing module, has a water tank, a water heating device (for example a flow heater) and a pump for supplying brewing water to the injector 104. The corresponding feed channels 118 of the injector can be designed as known per se. The injector also has at least one piercing tip with an associated feed opening, so that the capsule can be pierced and supplied with the extraction liquid through the feed opening. The coffee machine further has, for example, a capsule container arranged below the brewing chamber, into which the capsule is automatically ejected after the brewing process by lifting the operating lever.
The diversion device 103 is also provided with at least one piercing tip 111 and an associated diversion opening. Furthermore, depending on the configuration, there is also a discharge line, with which coffee (or the like) exiting from the outlet of the diversion device 103 is guided in such a way that it runs into a cup parked at the intended location.
In the embodiment shown, the diversion device 103 forms a capsule receptacle with a support 121 defining the support surface 120 for the capsule inserted through the insertion opening 107. The approximately cube-shaped capsule inserted through the insertion opening when the brewing chamber is open is guided by the first side walls and resting on the support 121. Subsequently, we closed the brewing chamber by a movement of the injector to the discharge device 103, whereby the capsule is also pierced. In the illustrated embodiment, puncturing occurs prior to the onset of the brewing process both on the injector side and on the side of the diversion device 103.
<figref idref="f0006"><b>FIG. 15</b></figref> shows very schematically a coffee preparation system according to the first aspect of the invention. The coffee machine 201 has in addition to a brewing chamber 202 - eg. The basis of<figref idref="f0006">FIG. 14</figref> illustrated type, or, for example, also formed by a piston and a bearing surface for the piston - a pump for conveying hot water 210, through which the hot water of the brewing chamber can be fed under pressure. A pump control 205 regulates the pumping and brewing pressure. In particular, the coffee machine can be set up for either a lower pumping pressure of often less than 5 bar, in particular less than 3 bar, for example about 1.5-2bar ("filter coffee") or a higher pumping pressure of at least 5 bar, in particular at least 8 bar, for example, between 8 bar and 20 bar ("espresso") to be operated. The switching between the different pump pressures is often done manually. But there may also be a device that automatically, for example, based on features of a thrown capsule controls. For example. For example, the various capsules of the system can be provided with different markings which can be read optically or via RFID or the like, which are recognized by a corresponding read-out device of the coffee machine, whereupon the pumping pressure is adapted accordingly.
The coffee preparation system also has at least two types of coffee portion capsules 1, 1 '. These differ in the internal volume (volume of the extraction material range), which is available to the extraction material, while the external dimensions are substantially identical. In particular, a capsule type 1 ("espresso capsule") according to the first aspect of the invention may be designed, while another type of capsule 1 '("filter coffee capsule") is designed conventionally and thus has a completely filled interior space or, for example, also have a filter arranged inside the capsule can.
The application of the procedure according to the first aspect or according to the second aspect for drinks other than coffee - eg tea - is possible.
