A method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps: (a) associating a first set of vital sign information with the patient, the first set of vital sign information measured from the patient with a first monitor comprising a first motion sensor;(b) storing the first set of vital sign information associated with the patient in a computer memory;(c) contacting the first monitor with a second monitor comprising a second motion sensor, the contacting causing the first motion sensor to generate a first motion signal, and the second motion sensor to generate a second motion signal;(d) processing the first and second motion signals to determine that the first monitor is to be replaced by the second monitor;and (e) associating a second set of vital sign information with the patient, the second set of vital sign information measured from the patient with the second monitor.

    A method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps:(a) measuring at least one set of vital sign information from the patient with a first monitor comprising a first motion sensor, the at least one set of vital sign information associated with the first monitor;(b) storing the at least one set of vital sign information in a computer memory;(c) contacting the first monitor with a second monitor comprising a second motion sensor, the contacting causing the first motion sensor to generate a first motion signal, and the second motion sensor to generate a second motion signal;(d) processing the first and second motion signals to determine that the first monitor is to be replaced by the second monitor;and (e) associating the at least one set of vital sign information with the second monitor.

    A method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps:(a) associating at least one set of patient information from the patient with a first monitor comprising a first motion sensor;(b) storing the at least one set of patient information associated with the first monitor in a computer memory;(c) contacting the first monitor with a second monitor comprising a second motion sensor, the contacting causing the first motion sensor to generate a first motion signal, and the second motion sensor to generate a second motion signal;(d) processing the first and second motion signals to determine that the first monitor is to be replaced by the second monitor;and (e) associating the set of patient information with the second monitor.

    A method of monitoring a patient with a first patient monitor and a second patient monitor, comprising:contacting the first patient monitor comprising a first motion sensor with a second patient monitor comprising a second motion sensor, the contacting causing the first motion sensor to generate a first motion signal and the second motion sensor to generate a second motion signal;analyzing the first and second motion signals to determine that the first patient monitor is to be replaced by the second patient monitor;and measuring a second set information from the patient with the second patient monitor, the second set of information grouped with a first set of information measured from the patient with the first patient monitor.

    A method of replacing a first patient monitor with a second patient monitor, comprising:contacting the first patient monitor comprising a first motion sensor with a second patient monitor comprising a second motion sensor, the contacting causing the first motion sensor to generate a first motion signal and the second motion sensor to generate a second motion signal;analyzing the first and second motion signals to determine that the first patient monitor is to be replaced by the second patient monitor;and grouping any new information measured with the second patient monitor with any old information measured with the first patient monitor.

    A system for measuring a patient, comprising:a first patient monitor comprising a first motion sensor and a first wireless transmitter;a second patient monitor comprising a second motion sensor and a second wireless transmitter;a remote server connected to the first patient monitor through the first wireless transmitter, and to the second patient monitor through the second wireless transmitter, the remote server configured to receive a first motion signal generated with the first motion sensor and a second motion signal generated with the second motion sensor after the first and second patient monitors contact each other;and an algorithm operating on the remote server configured to associate a single patient with a first set of information measured with the first patient monitor and a second set of information measured with the second patient monitor.

    A method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps:(a) contacting at least one of a display device and an area proximal to the display device with a patient monitor comprising a motion sensor, the contacting causing the motion sensor to generate a motion signal;(b) transmitting the motion signal to a computer;(c) processing the motion signal with the computer to associate the patient monitor with the display device;(d) measuring at least one set of vital sign information from the patient with the patient monitor;and (e) displaying the at least one set of vital sign information on the display device.

    A method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps:(a) contacting at least one of the display device and an area proximal to the display device with a patient monitor comprising a motion sensor and a wireless transmitter, the contacting causing the motion sensor to generate a motion signal;(b) wirelessly transmitting the motion signal from the patient monitor to a remote computer over a wireless network using the wireless transmitter;(c) processing wireless signals received by multiple wireless access points on the wireless network to determine an approximate location of at least one of the patient monitor and the display device;(d) processing the motion signal and the approximate location of at least one of the patient monitor and the display device to associate the patient monitor with the display device;(e) measuring at least one set of vital sign information from the patient with the patient monitor;and (f) displaying the at least one set of vital sign information on the display device.

    A method for monitoring a patient, comprising:measuring at least one set of vital sign information from the patient with a patient monitor comprising a motion sensor and a wireless transmitter;and displaying the at least one set of vital sign information on a display device, the display device and the patient monitor paired together by analyzing a first motion signal generated by the display device and a second motion signal generated by the motion sensor after contacting at least one of the display device and an area proximal to the display device with the patient monitor.

    A method for displaying information generated by a patient monitor on a display device, comprising:contacting at least one of the display device and an area proximal to the display device with the patient monitor;pairing the display device and the patient monitor by analyzing a first motion signal generated by a motion sensor comprised by the patient monitor and a second motion signal generated by the display device;and wirelessly transmitting vital sign information measured by the patient monitor to the paired display device.

    A system for measuring a patient, comprising:a patient monitor comprising a motion sensor and a wireless transmitter;a display device;a remote server connected to the patient monitor through the wireless transmitter and to the display device through a network, the remote server configured to receive a motion signal generated with the motion sensor after the patient monitor contacts at least one of the display device and an area proximal to the display device;and an algorithm operating on the remote server configured to associate the patient monitor with the display device so that the display device receives vital sign information measured by the patient monitor and transmitted through the network, the algorithm comprising collectively analyzing the motion signal and a location of the display device.

    A system for measuring a patient, comprising:a patient monitor comprising a motion sensor and a wireless transmitter;a display device;a computer connected to the patient monitor and to the display device through a network, the computer configured to receive a motion signal generated with the motion sensor after the patient monitor contacts at least one of the display device and an area proximal to the display device;and an algorithm operating on the computer configured to associate the patient monitor with the display device so that the display device receives vital sign information measured by the patient monitor and transmitted by the wireless transmitter, the algorithm comprising collectively analyzing the motion signal and a location of the display device.

    A system for measuring vital signs from a patient, comprising:a first sensor configured to generate a first time-dependent waveform indicative of one or more contractile properties of the patient' s heart;a second sensor configured to generate a second time-dependent waveform indicative of one or more contractile properties of the patient' s heart;a processing component configured to be worn on the patient's body and comprising a microprocessor and an interface to both the first and second sensors, the processing component configured to: (i) receive a first signal representing the first time- dependent waveform through a first interface;(ii) receive a second signal representing the second time-dependent waveform through a second interface;and (iii) calculate at least one vital sign value from at least one of the first and second signals or versions thereof;a wireless transmitter configured to transmit the at least one vital sign value over a wireless interface;and a two-way communications system configured to transmit and receive audio signals over the wireless interface.

    A vital sign monitor configured to be worn on a patient's body comprising:(a) a sensor configured to measure vital sign information from the patient;(b) attachment means configured to attach the sensor to the patient's body;(c) a wireless decoder configured to decode information associated with at least one of the patient, a clinician, and a medication;and (d) a wireless transmitter interfaced to the sensor and the wireless decoder, the wireless transmitter configured to transmit the vital sign information and information associated with at least one of the patient, a clinician, and a medication to a remote computer.
