  1. 1
A method (1000, 1100) of organizing and presenting a plurality of air traffic control centers in a hierarchal manner using a computer system to support connection to a selected air traffic control center using a radio communication device to establish a data link, the method comprising:retrieving location data for a plurality of geographic areas (1002);retrieving location data for a plurality of air traffic control centers (1004);determining which of the plurality of air traffic control centers are located within each geographic area by comparing the location data of the geographic areas with the location data for each of the plurality of air traffic control centers (1008, 1010, 1012, 1014, 1016, 1018, 1020, 1022, 1014) displaying names of the plurality of geographic areas to a user (1104);receiving a first input from the user, the first input selecting one of the plurality of geographic areas, the selected geographic area including one or more air traffic control centers from the plurality of air traffic control centers (1106);displaying names of the one or more air traffic control centers to the user (1108);receiving a second input from the user, the second input selecting one of the one or more air traffic control centers (1110);and connecting to the selected air traffic control center (1114) using a radio communication device to establish a data link.
  2. 2
A method (1000, 1200) of organizing and presenting a plurality of air traffic control centers in a hierarchal manner using a computer system to support connection to a selected air traffic control center using a radio communication device to establish a data link, the method comprising:retrieving location data for a plurality of geographic areas (1002);retrieving location data for a plurality of air traffic control centers (1004);determining which of the plurality of air traffic control centers are located within each geographic area by comparing the location data of the geographic areas with the location data for each of the plurality of air traffic control centers (1008, 1010, 1012, 1014, 1016, 1018, 1020, 1022, 1014);automatically selecting a geographic area in which an aircraft is currently located from the plurality of geographic areas, the selected geographic area including one or more air traffic control centers from the plurality of air traffic control centers (1202);displaying names of the one or more air traffic control centers to a user (1108);receiving an input from the user, the input selecting one of the one or more air traffic control centers (1110);and connecting to the selected air traffic control center (1114) using a radio communication device to establish a data link.
