  1. 1
A method (500, 600, 700) for power optimization in a wireless device (100) comprising:monitoring (702) the amount of data stored in a data buffer (116) that buffers at least one of data input to and data output from at least one processor (110);monitoring (702) a utilization level of the at least one processor;controlling at least an operating speed of the at least one processor based on the utilization level of the at least one processor in accordance with a control function and default settings thereof;and deciding whether to modify (704) parameters (303) of said control function or not, wherein modifying (704) said parameters (308) comprises setting the parameters of the control function to operate the at least one processor (110) at a first speed when the amount of data is above a first predetermined threshold and at a second speed lower than the first speech when the amount of data is equal to or below the first predetermined threshold wherein said deciding comprises deciding not to modify the parameters, if the processor utilization is low with a low processor clock speed and there is a large amount of data stored in said data buffer.
  2. 7
An apparatus (800) for power optimization in a tireless device (100) comprising:means for monitoring (802) the amount of data stored in a data buffer (804) that buffers at least one of data input to and data output from at least one processor (806);and means for monitoring (814) a utilization level of the at least one processor;means for controlling (112) at least an operating speed of the at least one processor based on the utilization level of the at least one processor in accordance with a control function and default settings thereof;and means for deciding whether to modify parameters (812) of said control function or not, means for modifying (816) said parameters (810) comprising means for setting the parameters of the control function to operate the at least one processor (110) at a first speed when the amount of data is above a first predetermined threshold and at a second speed lower than the first speed when the amount of data is equal to or below the first predetermined threshold wherein said means for deciding are configured to decide not to modify the parameters, if the processor utilization is low with a low processor clock speed and there is a large amount of data stored in said data buffer.
  3. 11
A computer program product, comprising:computer-readable medium comprising: code for causing a computer to carry out the steps of any of claims 1 to 6.
