  1. 1
A combination of a vessel filter and a snare (502), the vessel filter comprising a first region (19) and a second region (17), the first region (19) including a filtering section for capturing particles and having a first transverse dimension, the second region (17) including a mounting section for mounting the filter within the vessel, the mounting section having a second transverse dimension greater than the first transverse dimension and including vessel engaging structure (20) to retain the filter, the first region (19) further including a retrieval region, the retrieval region including a hook (290) having a curved hook (292) at the proximalmost end;a wall of the hook (290) having a cut out region (293) exposing an internal annular surface (294) which extends from a radiused region (295) to a proximalmost edge (296) such that the internal annular surface (294) has a first interior surface (294a) at the radiused region (295) and a second interior surface (294b) at the curved hook (292), the snare (502) being engageable with the curved hook (292) of the retrieval region of the vessel filter;and the radiused region (295), spaced axially in the distal direction from the curved hook (292), includes a radiused or curved edge defined by radiused or angled side walls (297a, 297c) and top wall (297b), wherein the combination includes a retrieval sheath (510) having a snare sheath (504), the snare (502) extending through the snare sheath (504), the second interior surface (294b) being dimensioned to accommodate the tubular snare sheath (504) of the retrieval sheath (510) such that an outer wall of the tubular snare sheath (504) can partially fit within the cut out region (293), the side walls (297a, 297c) forming camming surfaces to direct the hook (290) and filtering section into the retrieval sheath (510).
