35 claims: 29 independent, 6 dependent

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2010105680 A1 Claims 1 A method of transmitting uplink control signals/status bits from a user equipment, said user equipment having multiple transmit antennae, and said control signals correspond to a plurality of previous downlink transmissions, wherein said control signals are transmitted over a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources and over said multiple antennae, and transmitted during a single uplink sub-frame.
  2. 3
A method as claimed in claims 1 or 2 wherein said control signals are represented by a codeword representing a number and/or status of control signals or bits.
  3. 4
A method as claimed in claims 1 to 4 wherein the control signal /status bits are one or more of any of the following:ACK, NACK, or DTX.
  4. 5
A method as claimed in claims 1 to 4 wherein said control signals/status bits are sent uplink in the form of one or more codewords representing the control signals/bits and/or the number of them.
  5. 6
A method as claimed in any previous claim wherein the status bits are bundled into codewords;said codewords representing a pre-determined number and combination of status bits.
  6. 7
A method as claimed in any previous claim wherein said status bits/control signals are interpreted by the uplink dependent on constellation point and/or channel and /or selected PUCCH resources.
  7. 8
A method as claimed in 7 wherein said constellation points and selected PUCCH resources corresponding to different codewords maximize the Euclidean distance when received.
  8. 9
A method as claimed in any previous claim wherein the PUCCH resources are PUCCH channels/formats.
  9. 10
A method as claimed in any previous claim wherein each antenna has dedicated PUCCH channel.
  10. 11
A method as claimed in any preceding claim wherein where more than two antennae, two or more antennae share the same channels.
  11. 12
A method as claimed in any previous claim wherein occupied PUCCH channels are swapped between transmit antennae.
  12. 13
A method as claimed in claims 1 to 12 including where there are more than two antennae, grouping said antennae for the purpose of assigning PUCCH resources.
  13. 14
A method as claimed in any preceding claim which is part of a TDD or FDD system.
  14. 15
A method as claimed in any preceding claim adapted to maximise spatial diversity of said uplink sent status bits/control signals.
  15. 16
A network element having means to transmit uplink control signals/status bits, said network element having multiple transmit antennae, and said control signals correspond to a plurality of previous downlink transmissions, and having means to transmit said control signals over a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources and over said multiple antennae, during a single uplink sub- frame.
  16. 20
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 19 having means to send said control signals/status bits uplink in the form of one or more codewords representing the control signals/bits and/or the number of them.
  17. 21
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 20 wherein said status bits are bundled into codewords;said codewords representing a pre-determined number and combination of status bits.
  18. 22
A network element method as claimed in claims 16 to 21 wherein the PUCCH resources are PUCCH channels.
  19. 23
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 22 wherein said PUCCH resources are PUCCH formats.
  20. 24
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 23 wherein each antenna has dedicated PUCCH channel. .£
  21. 25
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 24 wherein having more than two antennae, and means such that two or more antennae share the same channels.
  22. 27
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 26 wherein having mean to swap occupied PUCCH channels between transmit antennae.
  23. 28
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 27 having more than two antennae, and having means to group said antennae for the purpose of assigning PUCCH resources.
  24. 29
A network element as claimed in claims 16 to 28 which is part of a TDD or FDD LTE advanced system.
  25. 30
A network element as claimed in any of claims 16 to 29 adapted to maximise spatial diversity of said uplink sent status bits/control signals.
  26. 31
A network element as claimed in any of claims 16 to 30 which is a user equipment,
  27. 32
A network element adapted to receive the transmitted uplink control signals/status bits, sent according to any of method claims 1 to 15.
  28. 33
A network element adapted to receive uplink control signals/status bits from the network element of claims 16 to 31.
  29. 35
A computer readable medium comprising a computer program thereon, said computer program performing the method of any of claims 1 to 15.
