A set of floor panels

Abstract

A set of two identical floor panels, namely a fold panel (1') and a strip panel (1) adapted to be locked with vertical folding, each panel comprising integrated connectors (20,30,6,8,14) on at last two edges to connect the fold panel to the strip panel horizontally as well as vertically, wherein one of the connectors for making a vertical connection comprises a flexible tongue (30) in a displacement groove (40) in one of the two floor panel (1',1), wherein another one of the connectors for making a horizontal connection comprises a locking strip (6) which projects from said vertical plane in the second panel (1) and carries a locking element (8), wherein said locking strip (6) is designed to cooperate, in a connected state, with a downward open locking groove (14) of the fold panel (1'), wherein the tongue (30) is designed to cooperate, in a connected state with a tongue groove of the other of the two floor panels (1',1), wherein the tongue (30), during the vertical folding, is displaced twice in the displacement groove (40), wherein a first displacement is effected by the vertical folding of the fold panel (1') whereby at least a part of the tongue (30) is bent in the horizontal direction, a second displacement of the tongue (30) towards its initial position is accomplished substantially by a spring effect caused by said bending of said flexible tongue (30) and wherein the locking system is designed such that the locking element (8) is partly in the locking groove (14) when the first displacement of the tongue (30) starts during the vertical folding.

  1. 1
A set of two identical floor panels, namely a fold panel (1') and a strip panel (1) each floor panel comprising connectors (20, 30, 6, 8, 14) on at last two edges, said connectors being integrated with the respective floor panel (1, 1') and adapted to connect the first floor panel (1') to the second floor panel (1), so that upper joint edges of said floor panels (1,1') in the connected state define a vertical plane (VP) wherein:said connectors (20, 30, 6, 8, 14)are designed to connect said first floor panel (1) with said second floor panel (1) in a horizontal direction (D2) perpendicular to said vertical plane and in a vertical direction (D1) parallel to the vertical plane (VP),wherein one of the connectors for making a vertical connection comprises a flexible tongue (30) in a displacement groove (40) in one of the two floor panel (1', 1),wherein the displacement groove (40) is formed in an edge of the panel and is open towards the vertical plane (VP),wherein the flexible tongue (30) has a length direction (L) along the joint edges, a width (W) in the horizontal plane perpendicular to the length and a thickness (T) in the vertical direction, wherein the flexible tongue (30) is designed to cooperate, in a connected state with a tongue groove of the other of the two floor panels (1', 1),wherein another one of the connectors for making a horizontal connection comprises a locking strip (6) which projects from said vertical plane in the second panel (1) and carries a locking element (8),wherein said locking strip (6) is designed to cooperate, in a connected state, with a downward open locking groove (14) of the fold panel (1')wherein the fold panel (1') is adapted to be locked to the strip panel (1) with vertical foldingcharacterised inthe flexible tongue (30) has a groove portion (P1) which is located in the displacement groove (40) and a projection portion (P2) which, in a an unlocked position and in a connected state projects outside the displacement groove (40)wherein the flexible tongue (30) during the vertical folding, is displaced twice in the displacement groove(40), wherein a first displacement is effected by the vertical folding of the fold panel (1') whereby at least a part of the flexible tongue (30) is bent in the horizontal direction,a second displacement of the flexible tongue (30) towards its initial position is accomplished substantially by a spring effect caused by said bending of said flexible tongue (30)andwherein the locking system is designed such that the locking element (8) is partly in the locking groove (14) when the first displacement of the flexible tongue (30)starts during the vertical folding.
  2. 6
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of claims 2-5, wherein the there are spaces of 0,1 mm or more between inner and upper part of the tongue groove (20) and the flexible tongue (30).
  3. 7
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of the claims 1-6, wherein the flexible tongue (30) has a protruding part (P2) with a sliding surface (32), formed like a bevel.
  4. 8
The set of floor panels as claimed in claimed in any one of the claims 1-7, wherein the flexible tongue is a V- or U-shaped sections, with an outer or inner part that is flexible.
  5. 9
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of claims 1-8, wherein said flexible tongue (30) has a projecting portion (P2) which in connected state is located outside the displacement groove (40) and an groove portion (P1) in the displacement groove (40) such that the size of said projecting portion (P2) and/or the groove portion (P1) varies along the length (L).
  6. 10
The set of floor panels as claimed in claimed in claim 9, wherein in that the flexible tongue (30) is made of moulded polymer material.
  7. 12
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of the claims 9-11, wherein the tongue is asymmetrical in the longitudinal direction.
  8. 13
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of the claims 1-12, wherein tongue is made of plastic, preferably PP or POM, and reinforced with fibres, e.g. glass fibres.
  9. 14
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of the claims 1-13, wherein fold panel (1') is locked to the strip panel (1) with a combined vertical and turning motion along the vertical plane VP.
  10. 15
The set of floor panels as claimed in any one of the claims 1-14, wherein the flexible tongue (30) is formed to cause a permanent pressure force horizontally in the locked position such that the flexible tongue (30) will only partly spring back to the initial position.
