  1. 1
A method (400) for wireless communications, comprising:establishing, for a mobile device, a wireless connection with a wireless communication network using a communication system, the connection having an associated Quality of Service (QoS) value;measuring (410) available battery power at the mobile device;and reducing an allowable average data rate (414) of the connection as a function of the available battery power at the mobile device and as a function of the QoS value associated with the connection, the allowable average data rate being reduced while maintaining the QoS value associated with the connection, wherein reducing the allowable average data rate of the connection comprises reprioritizing communication links between the mobile device and the wireless communication network.
  2. 8
An apparatus (400A) for wireless communications, comprising:means for establishing, for a mobile device, a wireless connection with a wireless communication network using a communication system, the connection having an associated Quality of Service, QoS value;means (410A) for measuring available battery power at the mobile device;and means (414A) for reducing an allowable average data rate of the connection as a function of the available battery power at the mobile device and as a function of the QoS value associated with the connection, the allowable average data rate being reduced while maintaining the QoS value associated with the connection, wherein means for reducing the allowable average data rate of the connection comprises means for reprioritizing communication links
  3. 15
A computer-program product for wireless communications, comprising a computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, the instructions being executable by one or more processors to perform a method according to any of claims 1 to 7.
