Glucose sensing system with auxiliary display

Abstract

A system is provided for sensing blood glucose concentration of a user. The system comprises a sensor to sense blood glucose data, sensor electronics in electrical communication with the sensor, a user interface in wireless communication with the sensor electronics and a patient monitor in communication with the sensor electronics. The system for sensing blood glucose data of a person comprises a sensor power supply and a memory in the sensor electronics, including a user interface and an input device for inputting reference information into the memory of the sensor electronics.

    A system comprising:a sensor for sensing blood glucose data;sensor electronics, coupled to the sensor, including at least one battery for supplying power to the sensor, the sensor electronics further including a memory for storing glucose information based on the blood glucose data sensed by the sensor;a user interface, coupled to and in non-wireless communication with the sensor electronics, the user interface including an input device for inputting reference information into the memory of the sensor electronics;w herein the user interface is detachable from the sensor electronics, and wherein the sensor electronics supplies power to the sensor, and wherein the sensor is operable when the user interface is detached from the sensor electronics.

    The system of claims 9 or 10 wherein the battery is a rechargeable battery that is recharged when the user interface is not detached from the sensor electronics.
