  1. 1
A computerized device in a network (602), the computerized device comprising:a digital processor (220);a first wireless network interface (250) associated with a first protocol, wherein the first protocol comprises a Bluetooth protocol;a second wireless network interface (260) associated with a second protocol;and a memory (230) comprising instructions configured to, when executed by the digital processor, cause the computerized device (204) to: receive, via the second wireless network interface (260), service profile information and device capabilities, both associated with the first protocol and relating to another computerized device (202), wherein the device capabilities includes Bluetooth state information for a corresponding wireless network interface of the another computerized device (202);determine whether the received service profile information and device capabilities has changed from a stored version;update the stored version of the service profile information and device capabilities with the received service profile information and device capabilities having the latest time stamped data;maintaining information relating to a plurality of another computerized devices including the another computerized device (202) present in the network (602), the information including service profile information and device capabilities of the plurality of another computerized devices;select one of the another computerized devices that operates a desired service profile;and establish a logical link with the selected one of the another computerized devices via the first wireless network interface (250) in accordance with the first protocol using the stored service profile information and device capabilities over the first wireless network interface (250)
  2. 2
The computerized device of Claim 1, further comprising a service discovery application resident in the storage medium, wherein the service profile information and device capabilities, both associated with the first protocol and relating to the another computerized device (202), are stored in the storage means and are accessible by the service discovery application, the service discovery application being configured to communicate with other like applications via the second network interface.
  3. 3
The computerized device of Claim 1, wherein the second protocol comprises a wireless local area network protocol.
  4. 4
The computerized device of Claim 3, wherein the received service profile information and device capabilities of the another computerized device (202) are received via a wireless access point.
  5. 5
The computerized device of Claim 1, further comprising a user display, the user display presenting a graphical user interface (600) to a user, the graphical user interface displaying service profile information and device capabilities associated with the first protocol and relating to the another computerized device (202).
  6. 6
The computerized device of Claim 1, wherein the state information indicates whether a Bluetooth radio for the corresponding another computerized device (202) is operating in an on state.
  7. 7
The computerized device of Claim 1 further comprising a cellular telephony interface and a touch-screen control system.
  8. 8
A method of establishing a connection between a first computing device (202) and a second computing device (204), each of the first and second computing devices configured to communicate in accordance with a first protocol comprising a Bluetooth protocol and a second protocol, the method comprising the second computing device:receiving, via a second wireless network interface (260) in accordance with the second protocol service profile information and device capabilities, both associated with the first protocol and relating to the first computing device (202), wherein the device capabilities includes Bluetooth state information for a corresponding wireless network interface of the first computing device (202);determining whether the received service profile information and device capabilities has changed from a stored version;updating the stored version of the service profile information and device capabilities with the received service profile information and device capabilities having the latest time stamped data;maintaining information relating to a plurality of computing devices including the first computing device (202) present in the network (602), the information including service profile information and device capabilities of the plurality of computing devices;selecting one of the plurality of computing devices that operates a desired service profile;and establishing a logical link with the selected one of the plurality of computing devices via a first wireless network interface (250) in accordance with the first protocol using the stored service profile information and device capabilities over the first wireless network interface (250).
  9. 9
The method of Claim 8, wherein the service profile information and device capabilities, both associated with the first protocol and relating to the first computing device (202) are accessible by a service discovery application of the second computing device (204), the service discovery application able to communicate with other like applications in accordance with the second protocol via the second wireless network interface.
  10. 10
The method of Claim 8, wherein the second protocol comprises a wireless local area network protocol.
  11. 11
The method of Claim 10, wherein the received service profile information and device capabilities of the first computing device (202) are received via a wireless access point.
  12. 12
The method of Claim 8, wherein the state information indicates whether a Bluetooth radio for the corresponding first computing device (202) is operating in an on state.
