Graphical user interface for selection of image data to be uploaded

The invention relates to an information processing apparatus and method which allow a user to readily select, upon uploading of image data, image data of a plurality of images to be transmitted. The user uses a cross key and a determination button of an inputting section of a camcorder to operate an anchor (424) on an image selection screen (411) to operate a page backward feeding button (421) and a page feeding button (422) to select a thumbnail image displayed. In response to an operation of the user, the anchor (424) is positioned on the left side of the number of the thumbnail image designated by the user, and image data of the thumbnail image at which the anchor (424) is positioned are selected. At a left upper portion of the selected thumbnail image, a check mark representative of such selection is displayed. When the user wants to end the image selection operation, it operates the anchor to operate a determination button (426). The present invention can be applied to a camcorder.
