Abstract

A method for transmitting a message to a mobile station, which method comprises the steps of: storing a predetermined message in a memory means (A), spe cifying a receiver for the message stored, the receiver consisting of one or more mobile stations (B), specifying an area corresponding to the message stored (C), monitoring the location of the receiver specified for the message (D,E), and retrieving said message from the memory means and transmitting the message to the user of a receiving mobile station when the receiving mobile station arrives in said area (F).

    A method comprising:monitoring a location of at least one mobile station;and triggering a message in response to determining that the at least one mobile station has entered an area (4).

    The method as claimed in any previous claim, wherein triggering a message comprises causing the transmittal of the message to a user interface of the at least one mobile station.

    The method as claimed in any of the previous claims, wherein the message comprises a voice message, the method further comprising the steps of:causing the set up of a call to the at least one mobile when the at least one mobile station enters the area;and transmitting the voice message to the at least one mobile station.

    A network element (1) or mobile station comprising:means for monitoring (10) a location of at least one mobile station;and means for triggering a message in response to determining that the at least one mobile station has entered an area.

    A mobile communication system comprising:the network element (1) or mobile station of any of previous claims 8 to 9;a mobile services switching centre;radio means having a data transmission connection to the mobile services switching centre for setting up a connection to mobile stations by radio signals;means for monitoring the location of at least one mobile station;and means, which are responsive to the means for monitoring, for triggering a message to the at least one mobile station monitored when the at least one mobile station is located within an area.

    The mobile communication system of previous claim 10 or 11 wherein the means for monitoring (10) is configured to receive from the at least one mobile station information indicating the location of the at least one mobile station and monitor the location of the at least one mobile station on the basis thereof.

    The mobile communication system as claimed in any of previous claims 10 to 12, wherein the means for monitoring (10) comprises means for transmitting a predetermined message to the monitored at least one mobile station when approaching the area (4);and wherein the at least one mobile station is configured to transmit information indicating its location more frequently in response to the reception of said message.
