  1. 1
A system (10) for use in gathering or processing data in a healthcare facility comprising:a fleet of mobile workstations (12a, 12b) each including a computerized device (38) having a computer readable data storage medium (39) and a battery input interface (33);a set (13) of interchangeable batteries (16, 16a, 16b) each configured to couple with the battery input interface (33) of any one of the mobile workstations (12a, 12b) for providing power to the corresponding computerized device (38);and a battery recharging system (14) for the set (13) of interchangeable batteries including a common battery charger (15) having a plurality of docking stations (18), each of the docking stations (18) including a battery charging interface (19), and a control device (56) coupled with each of the battery charging interfaces (19) which is configured to receive inputs indicative of at least one of battery identification and charging cycle count, via each of the battery charging interfaces (19), the control device (56) being further configured to output a battery selection signal based at least in part on the inputs, wherein the common battery charger (15) is configured to indicate a selected one of a plurality of batteries (16) simultaneously docked with said plurality of docking stations (18), for selection by a user, in response to the battery selection signal.
  2. 9
A method of reducing variation in charging cycle count among a plurality of interchangeable batteries (16, 16a, 16b) for a fleet of mobile workstations (12a, 12b) comprising the steps of:docking a plurality of interchangeable batteries (16, 16a, 16b) with a common battery charger (15);receiving inputs associated with a charging cycle count for each of the plurality of interchangeable batteries (16, 16a, 16b);outputting a battery selection signal which is based at least in part on the inputs;and indicating a selected one of a plurality of batteries (16) simultaneously docked with a plurality of docking stations (18), for selection by a user, in response to the battery selection signal.
  3. 11
The method of clam 10 further comprising a step of counting charging cycles for each of the plurality of interchangeable batteries (16, 16a, 16b).
