Self-administration device for liquid medicine

Abstract

A liquid medicine self-administration device including a flexible reservoir (28), an operating member (20), a pushing member (16) to move with respect to the operating member (20) and to induce pressure deformation of the reservoir (28), and engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) engages the operating member (20). With the operating member (20) engaged by the engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106), the pushing member (16) is relatively moved to the operating member (20) based on restoring force of a spring member (18) to push the reservoir (28) by the pushing member (16). By disengaging means (88) moving in unison with the pushing member (16), the engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) is released from an engaged state with respect to the operating member (20), when the pushing member (16) has moved to a predetermined location while pushing the reservoir (28).

  1. 1
A liquid medicine self-administration device comprising:a housing (10) open at both ends;a base member (26) having a liquid medicine inlet/outlet port (38, 40) and attached fitting into a first open end of the housing (10);a flexible reservoir (28) having an open end and a closed end wherein the open end is closed by the base member (26), arranged accommodated within the housing (10) with the interior in communication with the liquid medicine inlet/outlet port (38, 40) of the base member (26) and adapted to retain liquid medicine (104) that has been injected therein through the liquid medicine inlet/outlet port (38, 40);an operating member (20) inserted through another open end of the housing (10) and adapted to undergo movement into proximity with and away from the reservoir (28) through an operation performed from an outside;engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) adapted to engage the operating member (20) when the operating member (20) has moved into proximity with the reservoir (28) and to prevent movement of the operating member (20);a pushing member (16) accommodated in the housing interior between the operating member (20) and the reservoir (28) so as to be capable of relative movement with respect to the operating member (20), and adapted, through relative movement with respect to the operating member (20), to push against and induce flexural deformation of the reservoir (28) causing liquid medicine (104) inside the reservoir (28) to be expelled from the liquid medicine inlet/outlet port (38, 40);a spring member (18) arranged within the housing (10) in such a way as to undergo elastic deformation between the operating member (20) and the pushing member (16) through movement of the operating member (20) into proximity with the reservoir (28), and to exhibit restoring force from an elastically deformed state in which the operating member (20) has been engaged by the engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) so that the relative movement of the pushing member (16) with respect to the operating member (20) resulting from the restoring force causes the reservoir (28) to be pushed by the pushing member (16);and disengaging means (88) arranged inside the housing (10) so as to be capable of movement in unison with the pushing member (16) and, when the pushing member (16) has moved to a predetermined location while pushing the reservoir (28), functioning to release the engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) from an engaged state with respect to the operating member (20).
  2. 5
The liquid medicine self-administration device according to any one of claims 1-4, wherein after the engaging means (14, 66, 68, 76, 106) is released from the engaged state with respect to the operating member (20) by the disengaging means (88), the reservoir (28) automatically refill with the liquid medicine (104).
  3. 6
The liquid medicine self-administration device according to any one of claims 2, 4 and 5, wherein the flexing member (106) is composed of a flexing piece (106) whose basal end is disposed at a fixed location inside the housing (10) so as to extend in an axial direction;and the engaging claw portion (66) is released from the engaged state with respect to the engaging portion (76) of the operating member (20) through flexural deformation of the flexing piece (106) in an axis-perpendicular direction brought about by the disengaging projection (88) of the pushing member (16) pushing against the sloping face (68).
