A wearable infusion pump system, comprising:a disposable and non-reusable pump device (100;100') including a drive system (300) to dispense medicine from the pump device, and a non-rechargeable battery (345), the pump device defining a space to receive a medicine cartridge (120) ;and a reusable controller device (200) including a user interface (220), a rechargeable energy source (245) that outputs electrical energy to the drive system of the pump device, and control circuitry (240) to communicate signals to the drive system of the pump device , wherein the controller device is removably attachable to the pump device and the rechargeable energy source is to receive electrical energy from the non-rechargeable battery of the pump device to maintain the rechargeable energy source at a charge level greater than a threshold charge level when the non-rechargeable battery is in a non-depleted state;wherein the controller device outputs an alert indicative of a remaining power supply based at least partially on the threshold charge level when the non-rechargeable battery of the pump device is in a depleted state or disconnected from electrical communication with the rechargeable energy source.
