A control system for an electric drive system of a utility vehicle having at least one electric traction motor in communication with a respective driven wheel of the utility vehicle, the control system comprising:at least one operator input interface capable of causing generation of at least one input interface signal representing either one or both of acceleration and direction input parameters;a plurality of sensors mounted within the utility vehicle and each providing a sensor input signal;a traction controller in communication with the at least one operator input interface, the plurality of sensors, and the at least one electric traction motor to facilitate adjustment to the at least one electric traction motor based on the at least one input interface signal and at least one of the sensor input signals;and a mower controller in communication with at least one electric mower motor and the traction controller to facilitate adjustment of the at least one electric mower motor based on one or more signals received from the traction controller, characterized in that a behavior of the at least one electric mower motor is automatically adjusted based on programmed vehicle operational parameters in response to conditions of the utility vehicle as determined from either one or both of the at least one input interface signal and the at least one of the sensor input signals, wherein the behavior of the at least one electric mower motor comprises one or more of starting, stopping, a speed, a rate of starting, or a rate of stopping.
