  1. 1
A computer-implemented method, comprising:adding a temporal watermark signal to a monitor signal for display by a monitor, the temporal watermark signal being undetectable by humans but detectable by an automated system using video analysis techniques;receiving (502) a sequence of images having an image of the monitor within said sequence of images;detecting (504) within said sequence of images the temporal watermark signal displayed by the monitor;determining (506) a location for the image of the monitor within said sequence of images based on the detection;and excluding the monitor from active speaker detection based on the determined location for the image of the monitor.
  2. 7
A computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that if carried out by a processor, cause the processor to:add a temporal watermark signal to a monitor signal for display by a monitor, the temporal watermark signal being undetectable by humans but detectable by an automated system using video analysis techniques;receive a sequence of images having an image of a monitor within said sequence of images;detect within said sequence of images a temporal watermark signal displayed by the monitor;determine a location for the image of the monitor within said sequence of images;and exclude the monitor from active speaker detection based on the determined location for the image of the monitor.
  3. 10
An apparatus, comprising:a temporal watermark generator (116) operative to generate and add a temporal watermark signal to a monitor signal for display by a monitor (130), the temporal watermark signal being undetectable by humans but detectable by an automated system using video analysis techniques;a video camera (106) operative to receive video information for a first image, an image of the monitor being located within the first image;a microphone array (104) operative to receive audio information for the first image;a monitor detection module (114) communicatively coupled to the video camera and the microphone, the monitor detection module operative to detect the temporal watermark signal displayed by the monitor within the first image, and to determine a location for the image of the monitor within the first image based on the detection;and an active speaker detector module (118) communicatively coupled to the monitor detection module, the active speaker detector module operative to exclude the monitor from active speaker detection based on the determined location of the image of the monitor.
