  1. 1
A system allowing the wireless transfer of data between a first device having a microcontroller (E2) and a second device when the first and second devices are operatively positioned adjacent each other, the system comprising a reader circuit (101) and tag circuit (102):characterized in that the reader circuit (101) is operatively connected to the first device and having a receiver coil (B) and a transmit coil (C), the transmit coil (C) for providing oscillation energy to the tag circuit (102) when the tag circuit (102) is coupled to the reader circuit (101), and the receiver coil (B) for receiving coded information from the tag circuit (102) and delivering the coded information to the microcontroller (E2);the tag circuit (102) is operatively connected to the second device, the tag circuit (102) adapted for placement adjacent the reader circuit (101), the tag circuit (102) having a tag coil (G) for patterned oscillation at at least two discrete frequencies and for coupling to the reader circuit (101) such that the receiver coil (B), transmit coil (C) and tag coil (G) all oscillate at the same frequency when the reader circuit (101) and tag circuit (102) are coupled, the patterned oscillation representative of coded information within the tag circuit (102).
  2. 3
A system as in any one ofclaims 1 or 2 wherein the reader circuit (101) includes an output circuit for delivering the coded information to the microcontroller (E2).
  3. 4
A system as in any one of claims 1-3 wherein the coded information is converted to binary information on the basis of the tag coil (G), receiver coil (B) and transmit coil (C) oscillating at two discrete frequencies.
  4. 5
A system as in any one of claims 1-4 wherein the tag circuit (102) includes a first capacitor (H) for defining a first discrete oscillation frequency.
  5. 10
A system as in any one of claims 1-9 wherein power for the tag circuit (102) is obtained from the oscillation energy of the tag coil (G).
  6. 11
A system as in any one of claims 1-10 wherein the coded information is binary information including an enable/disable bit (E).
  7. 14
A system as in any one of claims 1-13 wherein the coded information includes any one of or a combination of a manufacturer's code (A:), a distributor's code (B:), and a serial number (C:).
  8. 15
A system as in any one of claims 1-14 wherein the first device includes a microcontroller (E2) operatively connected to the reader circuit (101) for interpreting the coded information within the tag circuit (102) and wherein operative cooperation between the first and second devices is determined based on microcontroller interpretation of the coded information within the tag circuit (102).
  9. 16
A system as in any one of claims 1-15 wherein the reader circuit (101) includes a power switch (A) responsive to the actuation of the first product and the microcontroller (E2) measures the time of actuation of the first product to determine the consumption of a consumable product within the second product.
