In an information processing apparatus and method in which a variety of data about sound contents is recorded, a predetermined number of data about sound contents is recorded in a main table in a display data file (182) while other types of data about sound contents are recorded in a sub table in the display data file (182) as data which increase the types of data recorded in the main table.
