Handle for fishing rod

Abstract

The present invention concerns a fishing rod (10) for fly fishing, comprising an oblong, thin and elastic body (11), equipped with a reel (13) for a fishing line, seated on the rod (10) at the lower part of this, along with a gripping device (12) consisting of a fore handle (13) and/or a butt handle (14) fastened to the fishing rod (10) on the lower end of the rod (10) on a level below the reel (16). The handle (14) is fastened on an angular lever (15) in relation to the longitudinal axis of the rod (10), since the handle (14) is situated on the extension of an imagined line, which stretches between the upper tip of the rod (10) and the spin axis (17) of the reel (16). The gripping device (12) may furthermore comprise a fore handle (13), fastened to the fishing rod (10) at the rear end of the rod (10), preferably in the area where a reel (16) seat is fastened to the rod (10). The handle (13) is configured in such a manner that it allows the thin and elastic body (11) to move relative to the handle (13).

14 claims: 11 independent, 3 dependent

  1. 1
Fishing rod (10), comprising an oblong, thin and elastic body (11);a reel (16) for a fishing line, seated on the rod (10) at the rear part of the rod (10);a gripping device (12) comprising a fore handle (13) and/or a butt handle (14) arranged on the rear part of the rod (10), preferably in the area where the reel (16) is attached to the rod (10), the fore handle (13) comprising a stable tubular body attached to the rear end of the body (11) only, the fore handle (13) being configured to allow a relative lateral movement of the rear end of the oblong, thin elastic body (11) in relation to the fore handle (13), while the butt handle (14) comprises a grip which is offset the centre axis of the body (11), characterized in that the butt handle (14) is attached to a lever (15) which forms an angle in relation to the longitudinal axis of the rod, the butt handle (14) having an approximately elliptic cylindrical form with a longitudinal axis which is transverse in relation to the angular lever (15), intended to lie naturally in the palm of the hand of an angler, and/or that the fore handle (13) is provided with at least one longitudinal opening or slot at least on the side of the handle where the reel is seated, so that the oblong, thin, elastic body (11) more or less freely may oscillate upwards and downwards relative to the handle (13).
  2. 4
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-3, where the nearly elliptic cylindrical body is broadest at the end that points away from the rod.
  3. 5
Fishing rod (10) as given in one of the claims 1-4, where the longitudinal axis of the nearly elliptic cylindrical body forms an angle ϕ with the angular lever (15), which is approximately 90 to 120 degrees.
  4. 6
Fishing rod (10) as indicated in one of the claims 1-5, where the angular lever (15) is fastened to the butt handle (14) at the rear end of the handle (14).
  5. 7
Fishing rod (10) as indicated in one of the claims 1-6, where the angle β between the angular lever (15) and the centre axis of the rod (10) is between 5 to 40 degrees.
  6. 9
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-8, where the mentioned angular lever (15) has a cross section which is considerably smaller than the cross section of the fore handle (13) and/or the cross section of the nearly elliptic cylindrical body (14).
  7. 10
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-9, where the gripping device (12) is configured to facilitate several different grips, depending on the angler and on phase of the cast.
  8. 11
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-10, where the handle (13) is only fixed to the fishing rod along maximum half of the handle (13), so that accordingly, the blank (11) is not in physical contact with the surrounding handle (13) in at least the fore half of the handle.
  9. 12
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-11, where the handle (13) is elliptically formed at the part of the rear part which comprises the fastening area.
  10. 13
Fishing rod (10) according to one of the claims 1-12, where the fore end of the handle (13) is equipped with an enforcement in the form or a ring, with a considerably larger opening than the remaining part of the handle. The inner surface (21) is covered with friction reducing and shock absorbing material, in order to avoid wear of the surface of the blank (11) and the inner surface (21) of the handle (13).
  11. 14
Fishing rod (1) according to one of the claims 1-13, where the fishing reel (16) is being fastened directly to the handle (13) in such a way that the blank (11) is without physical contact with the surrounding handle (13), as far as the rearmost part (25) of the rod (10).
