Stroller with a handle that is telescopic and rotational movable

Abstract

An adjustable handle assembly (126) is configured for a device (e.g. stroller) that supports and carries a child and that can be moved along a surface. The handle assembly (126) is coupled to a handle extension (128) that extends from a part of the device and that has an end with an extension axis. The handle assembly has a stem (190) configured to attach to the end of the handle extension. The handle assembly also has a grip body (230) coupled to the stem. The grip body (230) is independently movable relative to the handle extension both longitudinally along the extension axis and rotationally about the extension axis. An actuator (246) is provided on the handle assembly and can be actuated between a lock position and a release position. In the lock position, the grip body (230) is in a fixed position relative to the handle extension. In the release position, the grip body is permitted to move both longitudinally and rotationally relative to the extension axis between a plurality of selectable longitudinal and rotational positions. In one example, the device is a stroller that utilizes two such handle assemblies.

18 claims: 3 independent, 15 dependent

  1. 1
A stroller comprising an adjustable handle assembly, the stroller having a handle extension that extends from a part of the stroller and that has an end with an extension axis, the handle assembly comprising:a stem configured to attach to the end of the handle extension;a grip body coupled to the stem, the grip body independently movable relative to the handle extension both longitudinally along the extension axis and rotationally about the extension axis;and an actuator on the handle assembly and movable between a lock position retaining the grip body in a fixed position relative to the handle extension and a release position permitting both longitudinal and rotational movement of the grip body relative to the extension axis between a plurality of selectable longitudinal and rotational positions.
  2. 13
An adjustable stroller handle assembly comprising:a stem attached to a frame part of the stroller and having a stem axis concentric with an axis of the frame part;a grip part coupled to the stem and having a handle axis that is oriented generally perpendicular to the stem axis, the grip part independently movable relative to the frame part both longitudinally along the axis of the frame part and rotationally about the axis of the frame part;and an actuator on the handle assembly movable between a lock position preventing grip part movement and a single release position that permits both longitudinal and rotational grip part movement, wherein the grip part is adjustable between both a plurality of longitudinal positions relative to the axis of the frame part and a plurality of rotational positions about the axis of the frame part.
  3. 18
A stroller comprising:a frame supported by a plurality of wheels;a seat supported by the frame;a pair of elongate handle extensions of the frame extending behind the seat, each handle extension having an extension axis;a pair of handle assemblies, one attached to each handle extension of the frame, each handle assembly having a grip part independently movable relative to the respective handle extension both longitudinally along the extension axis and rotationally about the extension axis;and an actuator on the handle assembly movable between a lock position preventing handle movement and a release position permitting both longitudinal and rotational movement of the grip part relative to the frame extension;and optionally or preferably, wherein each handle assembly further comprises: a stem attached to the respective frame extension and telescopically slidable relative to the frame extension when the actuator is in the release position;and a grip part extending from a distal end of the stem in a radial direction and at an angle generally perpendicular to the extension axis, the grip part being rotatable about the extension axis when the actuator is in the release position;and further optionally or further preferably, wherein each actuator has a button positioned on the respective grip part and movable along a path concentric with the extension axis.
