The present invention relates to cosmetic formulations based on emulsions for repelling insects, comprising one or more active insect repellants and sodium stearoylglutamate, sucrose polytsearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene. The combination enables an increase in the effectiveness of the insect defense by up to 30%.
Insect repellents (insect repellants, insect repellents, repellents, repellents) are preparations which are used externally to repel and / or repel insects, but also to prevent ticks and mites from becoming active on the skin. Insect repellents are designed to protect the skin from nuisance caused by blood-sucking or biting insects and other parasites and / or nuisances by warding them off before they settle on the skin. Accordingly, the agents do not act as contact poisons, but only as repellants, since they do not kill the animals but only drive them out.
As a repellent active ingredient, for example, 1-piperidinecarboxylic acid 2- (2-hydroxyethyl) -1-methylpropyl ester (INN: Icaridin, CAS number: 119515-38-7, Elincs number: 423-210-8) is known, which has the following Structure has:<chemistry id="chem0001" num="0001"><img file="EP1997382A2_D0001.tif" /></chemistry>
Another repellent active ingredient used is ethyl 3- (Nn-butyl-N-acetylamino) propionate (also known as ethylbutyl acetylaminopropionate or repellent 3535), which is characterized by the following structural formula:<chemistry id="chem0002" num="0002"><img file="EP1997382A2_D0002.tif" /></chemistry>
Last but not least, the expert knows the repellent active ingredient N, N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide (trade name: Meta-delphene, DEET), which has the following structure:<chemistry id="chem0003" num="0003"><img file="EP1997382A2_D0003.tif" /></chemistry>
These substances have been described many times as repellent agents against insects, in particular mosquitoes or ticks, for example in <patcit id="pcit0001" dnum="DE2246433"><text>DE 2246433</text></patcit>, <patcit id="pcit0002" dnum="DE19645250"><text>DE 19645250</text></patcit>, <patcit id="pcit0003" dnum="DE19645920"><text>DE 19645920</text></patcit>.
In the <patcit id="pcit0004" dnum="WO2006096876A"><text>WO 2006096876</text></patcit> and <patcit id="pcit0005" dnum="WO2005034626A"><text>WO 2005034626</text></patcit> dihydronepetalactones are disclosed as repellents against insects. The disclosure content of the dihydronepetalactone<patcit id="pcit0006" dnum="WO2006096876A"><text>WO 2006096876</text></patcit> and <patcit id="pcit0007" dnum="WO2005034626A"><text>WO 2005034626</text></patcit> are hereby explicitly included as in accordance with the invention.
Catnip or Nepeta is known as a mosquito repellent and is said to have about ten times more resistance to mosquitoes than conventional repellents.
In the <patcit id="pcit0008" dnum="DE102005033845"><text>DE 102005033845</text></patcit> certain perfume ingredients for repelling mosquitoes, sand flies, lice, brakes, wasps, bees, flies and ticks are also mentioned.
One problem here is that a repellent active ingredient which, for example, has a repellent action against mosquitoes, does not have this repellent action or only has a limited action against other insects. In order to be effective against insects, a relatively high proportion of the repellents must be added. To achieve full protection against ticks or the very aggressive Anopheles mosquito, an addition of up to 20% of the repellent must be added. The problem here is that preparations with a high concentration of repellents can lead to skin irritation in individual cases in people with particularly sensitive skin. Furthermore, the repellent active ingredients have a smell that is also perceptible to the human nose and does not exactly attract people, which does not exactly make the use of insect repellents attractive. The repellent effect of the preparation therefore extends not only to insects but also, under certain circumstances, also to fellow human beings if they have a pronounced sense of smell.
With such high use concentrations, the preparations of the prior art have the disadvantage of not being particularly well tolerated, particularly in the case of people with sensitive or allergy-prone skin, and of causing skin irritation in individual cases.
It is desirable to provide a preparation which, on the one hand, has an insect repellent effect and, on the other hand, is skin-friendly and advantageously exudes a fragrance which is pleasantly fragrant for the human nose.
Another disadvantage of the emulsion-based insect repellents known from the prior art is that, depending on the emulsifier, they reduce their effectiveness or lose their effectiveness completely after about 2 to 4 hours. In order to still achieve better protection, additives are again required, such as film formers, such as geranediol, but these then restrict the long-term stability of the preparation.
It was therefore the object of the present invention to provide cosmetic preparations based on emulsions containing insect repellents which do not have such a reduction in effectiveness and / or long-term instability.
The invention describes an emulsion-based preparation comprising one or more active insect repellants and sodium stearoylglutamate, sucrose polyearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene.
Preferred insect repellents are 1-piperidinecarboxylic acid 2- (2-hydroxyethyl) -1-methylpropyl ester (icaridin), 3- (Nn-butyl-N-acetylamino) propionic acid ethyl ester (IR 3535), N, N-diethyl-3 -methylbenzamide (DEET), ethylbutyl acetylaminopropionate (EBAAP), dihydronepetalactone (DHPL) and / or extracts of catnip.
Ethyl 3- (Nn-butyl-N-acetylamino) propionate is preferably chosen as the repellent, in particular in a proportion of up to 25% by weight, preferably about 15% by weight, based on the total mass of the preparation.
Dihydronepetalactones are for example in the <patcit id="pcit0009" dnum="WO2006096876A"><text>WO 2006096876</text></patcit> and <patcit id="pcit0010" dnum="WO2005034626A"><text>WO 2005034626</text></patcit> described, which are part of the disclosure content of the present invention.
Catnip (Nepeta) is a genus of plants belonging to the labiate family (Lamiaceae). According to the invention, all possible extracts, solutions or dispersions of the nepeta plant or parts thereof are understood as extracts. The essential oils contained in the Nepeta are mainly citral, citronellol, geraniol and limonene, as well as nepetalactone, tannins and bitter substances. The active ingredient that makes the plant so irresistible to cats is actinidine, an iridoid glycoside that is very similar to the comparable active ingredient of valerian (BOWN, 1995). The Nepeta contains about 0.2-0.7% essential oils.
The oily extract of catnip, especially purified, is very poorly spreading and very polar like any other natural oil. It is therefore non-cosmetic and gives the conventional cosmetic formulas an oily, greasy phase. It is perceived as being difficult to distribute. The polar nature of the extract also quickly leads to instabilities, such as oil or water separation. According to the invention, this difficulty of the cosmetic formulation has been overcome by the combination with the sodium stearoyl glutamate, sucrose polyearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene.
The preparation according to the invention can contain the repellents, preferably IR 3535, in different forms.
It is advantageous according to the invention if the repellents are present in a total concentration of 0.1 to 40% by weight and according to the invention if the repellents are present in a total concentration of 10 to 20% by weight, in each case based on the total weight of the preparation .
The preparation according to the invention comprises sodium stearoyl glutamate, sucrose polytsearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene, preferably all three substances. Sodium stearoyl glutamate is available, for example, as Eumulgin® SG (Emulgade SG) from Carechemicals; a mixture of sucrose polytsearate and hydrogenated polyisobutylene is available as Emulgade® Sucro from Carechemicals. In <patcit id="pcit0011" dnum="EP766959B1"><text>EP 766959 B1</text></patcit>, <patcit id="pcit0012" dnum="EP928608B1"><text>EP 928608 B1</text></patcit> and <patcit id="pcit0013" dnum="EP1151743A1"><text>EP 1151743 A1</text></patcit> these emulsifiers are also described.
The combination of sodium stearoylglutamate, sucrose polytsearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene with the insect repellents in emulsions means that the effectiveness, ie the repellant availability, can be increased by up to 30%. The emulsion-based preparation preferably comprises at least two of the three substances, preferably sodium stearoyl glutamate and sucrose polyearate, in particular all three.
Sodium stearoyl glutamate and sucrose polyearate are preferably used in a ratio of 1:10 to 10: 1, in particular 1: 5 to 5: 1.
The protective effect of the preparations against mosquitoes was examined in a cage test. The basis for the tests was the draft of an American directive<i>Environmental Protection Agency</i> (EPA, 2000). The test cages used in this study are a further development of the cages mentioned in this guideline. They are ventilated with conditioned air, the test arms are held against a window of a defined size from the outside. For each repellent sample, the time of the first and second stitches as well as the time until a 95% protection against stings was achieved. The repellent samples were taken from 5 test persons (3 female and 2 male, ages between 21 and 34 years) over a maximum duration of 8 hours every 30 minutes on a prickly cage population of the yellow fever mosquito <i>Aedes aegypti</i> tested. The repellent samples were applied to a defined area of the skin on a forearm of the test subjects; the application amount corresponded to the guidelines: 1.5 g lotion or 1 g liquid spray per 600 cm2 skin. It was tested for the first time immediately after application. The area of skin treated was larger than the test window in the bottom of the test cage to ensure that the entire exposed skin was treated with active ingredient.
The other, untreated forearm of the test subjects served as a zero control. This was carried out before each individual test and was not allowed to fall below a value of 10 stitches per 30 seconds. The exact time until the 10th stitch was noted, with the help of this time value the percentage protective effect was calculated according to the following formula:<maths id="math0001" num=""><math display="block"><mo mathvariant="italic">%</mo><mi mathvariant="italic">R</mi><mo mathvariant="italic">=</mo><mrow><mo mathvariant="italic">(</mo><mi mathvariant="italic">SKxY</mi><mo mathvariant="italic">-</mo><mi mathvariant="italic">ST</mi><mo mathvariant="italic">)</mo><mi mathvariant="italic">xIOO</mi><mo mathvariant="italic">-</mo><mfenced><mi mathvariant="italic">SKxY</mi></mfenced></mrow></math><img file="EP1997382A2_D0004.tif" /></maths><ul id="ul0001" list-style="none" compact="compact"><li><i>% R:</i> Percentage repellent effect</li><li><i>SK:</i> Number of stitches in control arm</li><li><i>ST:</i> Number of stitches test arm</li><li><i>Y:</i> Duration of the test arm exposure (2 mm) + duration of the control arm exposure (max. 0.5 mm)</li></ul>
Each subject tested a previously drawn repellent sample on a cage each day. There was an aeration time of 5 minutes between the tests and the zero control in order to avoid an accumulation of attractants or active substances in the cage. For this purpose, the cages were flushed with constantly warm and humid air using a special hose system (26 ± 1 ° C, 70 ± 10%). The hose system was not connected during the tests because the inflowing air prevents the test mosquitoes from orienting themselves in the direction of the test arm, but outside the tests the test cages were permanently ventilated. Before the start of the test, the activity of the test mosquitoes was checked with the untreated forearm of the experimenter. If the number of stitches fell below a value of at least 10 stitches, 30 new test mosquitoes were used within 30 seconds. During the tests, blood-sucking test mosquitoes were subsequently replaced to ensure that there was always a constant number of mosquito-friendly test mosquitoes in the test cage. The<figref idref="f0001">illustration 1</figref> shows the results of the cage test. The preparations contained 15% by weight of IR 3535 as repellent active ingredient, as well as sodium stearoyl glutamate, sucrose polytsearate and hydrogenated polyisobutylene (see<figref idref="f0001">illustration 1</figref>). The increase in insect repellent effectiveness is particularly evident when all three substances are combined with IR 3535 (right 2 bars in <figref idref="f0001">Fig.1</figref>).
The use of the combination of insect repellent active ingredients, in particular ethyl 3- (Nn-butyl-N-acetylamino) propionate, and sodium stearoylglutamate, sucrose polytsearate and / or hydrogenated polyisobutylene to increase the insect repellent effect by up to 30% compared to a preparation without sodium stearoylglutamates, sucrose and sucrose or hydrogenated polyisobutylene is therefore preferred. In addition to the protection against insects, skin tolerance and skin feel are decisive properties of a topical product, especially a cosmetic product.
An excellent repellent effect is of no use if the cosmetic product leads to intolerance. One of the common skin intolerances is the so-called stinging effect, which is particularly noticeable on the face. The stinging effect occurs particularly in the nasolabial area and means a subjective discomfort of the test subjects. To rule out such undesirable effects for cosmetics as far as possible, so-called. Stinging tests performed. Two products are tested for their skin compatibility in a direct pair comparison. As an internal high standard (benchmark), a commercially available product known as skin-friendly is compared (NIVEA Visage Day Cream normal mixed).
Numerous studies have now found that a significant contribution to stinging is caused by the parabens contained in many cosmetics, especially if they are present in the formulation with a proportion of more than 0.3% by weight. Parabens are used as preservatives, so replacing them can sometimes be difficult.
It has now surprisingly been found that the preparations according to the invention show very good repellent effects but do not have a stinging effect. The preparations according to the invention can therefore preferably be prepared in a proportion of up to 0.3% by weight of preservatives, such as parabens in particular. The addition of preservatives, such as parabens, can preferably be dispensed with entirely. That is, for the first time it is possible to provide repellant-containing preparations which at the same time have improved tolerance and in particular have no stinging effects. The preparations according to the invention are therefore preferably free from bactericidal, fungicidal, sporicidally, ie spore-killing, active agents and / or free from preservatives. Furthermore, they are preferably free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde donors such as diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea and / or DMDM hydantoin and in particular free of benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and / or their derivatives or salts. The preparations according to the invention preferably comprise less than 0.3% by weight or in particular, they are free of parabens, in particular free of methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, propyl paraben, isopropyl paraben, butyl paraben, isobutyl paraben and / or benzyl paraben. Also 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, 4-chloro-3,5-dimethyl-phenol, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol and / or iodopropinylbutyl carbamate (IPBC) as well as Quatemium-15 (CAS 51229-78-8 ), Methyl-chloroisothiazolinone and / or methylisothiazolinone are not in the preparations according to the invention or to be found at less than 0.3% by weight. The preparations according to the invention are particularly preferably paraben-free. According to the invention, "free of" means a proportion of less than 0.1% by weight, based on the total mass of the preparation. The proportion of the aforementioned agents and in particular parabens is preferably 0% by weight.
Mosquitoes, ticks and other insects within the meaning of the present disclosure are primarily attracted by a complex fragrance mixture of lactic acid, fatty acids and amino acids, which are emitted by human skin and surround people like a scent bell. It is now a disadvantage of prior art insect repellants that such preparations do not directly mask the natural, human fragrance composition, but rather add an additional fragrance note (that of the repellent) which repels insects. In order to shift the attractive and repulsive irritant potential to the insects over a longer period in favor of the repulsive irritant effect, it is necessary according to the prior art to use relatively large amounts of repellent active ingredients.
The repellent active ingredients have a smell that is also perceptible to the human nose and does not exactly attract people, which does not exactly make the use of insect repellants attractive.
One or more perfume substances selected from the group are advantageously added to the preparation according to the invention<ul id="ul0002" list-style="bullet" compact="compact"><li>1,3,4,6,7,8-hexahydro-4,6,6,7,8,8-hexamethylcyclopenta-gamma-2-benzopyran</li><li>2,6-dimethyl-7-octen-2-ol</li><li>2-Acetonapthone-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro-2,3,8,8-tetramethyl</li><li>2-isobutyl-4-hydroxy-4-methyltetrahydropyran</li><li>2-tert-pentylcyclohexyl acetate</li><li>3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-1-ol</li><li>3-methyl-5-phenyl-1-pentanol</li><li>7-acetyl-1,1,3,4,4,6-hexamethyltetralin</li><li>Adipic acid diester</li><li>alpha-amylcinnamaldehyde</li><li>alpha isomethyl ionone</li><li>Alpha methyl ionone</li><li>Amyl C butylphenylmethylpropionalcinnamal</li><li>Amylcinnamyl alcohol</li><li>Amyl salicylate</li><li>Anise alcohol</li><li>Benzoin</li><li>Benzyl acetate</li><li>Benzyl alcohol</li><li>Benzyl benzoate</li><li>Benzyl cinnamate</li><li>Benzyl salicylate</li><li>Bergamot oil</li><li>bitter orange oil</li><li>Butylphenylmethylpropioal</li><li>Cardamom oil</li><li>Cedrol</li><li>Cinnamal</li><li>Cinnamyl alcohol</li><li>Citral</li><li>Citronellol</li><li>Citronellyl methyl crotonate</li><li>Lemon oil</li><li>Coumarin</li><li>Diethyl succinate</li><li>d-limonene</li><li>Ethylene brassylates</li><li>Ethyllinalool</li><li>Eugenol</li><li>Evernia furfuracea extract</li><li>Evernia Prunastri Extract</li><li>Farnesol</li><li>Geraniol</li><li>Guaiac wood oil</li><li>Heliotropin</li><li>Hexylcinnamal</li><li>Hexyl salicylate</li><li>Hydroxycitronellal</li><li>Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexenecarboxaldehydes</li><li>Isoeugenol</li><li>Lavender oil</li><li>Lemon oil</li><li>Lime</li><li>Linalool</li><li>Linalyl acetate</li><li>Mandarin oil</li><li>Menthyl PCA</li><li>Methyl 2 octynoate</li><li>Methyl benzoate</li><li>Methyl cedryl ketones</li><li>Methyl dihydrojasmonths</li><li>Methylheptenone</li><li>Nutmeg oil</li><li>pt-butyl-alpha-methyldihydrocinnamic aldehydes</li><li>Rosemary oil</li><li>sweet orange oil</li><li>Terpineol</li><li>Tonka bean oil</li><li>Triethyl citrate and / or</li><li>Vanillin.</li></ul>
It is advantageous to add hexyl salicylate, linalyl acetate and / or 2-isobutyl-4-hydroxy-4-methyltetrahydropyran, which mask the odor of the dihydronepetalactone particularly well without exerting an attracting effect on the insects.
The perfume ingredients according to the invention, one or more, are preferably present at a total concentration of 1 ppm to 2.5% by weight, based in each case on the total weight of the preparation.
An advantageous embodiment in the sense of the present invention is a cosmetic preparation as a hydrodispersion gel containing 15% by weight IR 3535, 0.004% by weight hexyl salicylate and sodium stearoyl glutamate, sucrose polytsearate and hydrogenated polyisobutylene, in each case based on the total weight of the preparation.
The preparation is preferably a cosmetic preparation and suitable for application to the skin.
The cosmetic preparation according to the invention is advantageously characterized in that it is in the form of an emulsion (W / O, O / W, W / S, S / W or multiple emulsion, macro- or microemulsion). It is preferred according to the invention if the cosmetic preparation is in the form of a hydrodispersion gel.
According to the invention, the preparation can also be in the form of a low-viscosity, sprayable solution, in the form of a gel, as an ointment, cream or lotion (optionally sprayable).
According to the invention, the preparation can advantageously also be used as a spray or as an impregnation medium for a plaster or cloth. Therefore, plasters and wipes are also impregnated with the preparation according to the invention, according to the invention.
Preparations with repellents as an active ingredient can be produced in the form of emulsions and dispersions in which the lipophilic active ingredient is surrounded by an aqueous phase (for example O / W emulsion). By coating the active ingredient with the aqueous phase, its release is slowed down and the preparation itself is longer effective against mosquitoes, insects, etc. when used on the skin.
A disadvantage of the prior art, however, is the fact that, because of their aqueous outer phase, these preparations are not particularly waterproof and can be easily rinsed off the skin. Furthermore, no oxidation-sensitive, water-soluble additives can be incorporated into these preparations.
According to the invention, these defects can be remedied by emulsions with an aqueous inner phase and a lipophilic outer phase.
The preparation according to the invention is therefore particularly advantageously in the form of a W / O or W / S emulsion.
As a result, the preparations according to the invention have an extended duration of action and increased water resistance on the skin.
The fact that the repellent active ingredient is enriched in the outer, lipophilic phase was particularly surprising when it was released onto the skin evenly over a period of several hours and thus had a long-lasting repellent effect.
Last but not least, it was surprising that, in the form of the preparations according to the invention, the stickiness of the preparation on the skin is significantly reduced compared to products of the prior art (with the same repellent content).
The water phase of the preparation according to the invention can advantageously contain customary cosmetic auxiliaries, such as, for example, alcohols, in particular those having a low C number, preferably ethanol and / or isopropanol, diols or polyols having a low C number, and their ethers, preferably propylene glycol, glycerol, ethylene glycol, ethylene glycol monoethyl or monobutyl ether, propylene glycol monomethyl, monoethyl or monobutyl ether, Diethylene glycol monomethyl or monoethyl ether and analog products, polymers, foam stabilizers , electrolytes, self-tanners and in particular one or more thickeners, which or which can advantageously be selected from the group consisting of silicon dioxide, aluminum silicates, polysaccharides and their derivatives, e.g. B. Hyaluronic acid, xanthan gum, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, particularly advantageously from the group of polyacrylates, preferably a polyacrylate from the group of so-called carbopoles, for example carbopoles of types 980, 981, 1382, 2984, 5984, each individually or in combination.
An existing oil phase can contain all conventional components of oil, fat and wax components used in cosmetics.
In addition to the combination of active substances according to the invention, the preparation according to the invention can contain further cosmetic active substances and care substances, for example the UV light protection filters approved according to the Cosmetics Ordinance, and preservatives or preservation aids. Such active substances can advantageously be contained according to the invention in concentrations of 0.01 to 30% by weight, based on the total weight of the preparation.
