Control algorithm of variable speed pumping system

Abstract

A pumping system (10, 110) includes a pump (16, 116) for moving water. In one aspect, this is in connection with performance of an operation. The system (10, 110) includes a variable speed motor (24, 124) operatively connected to drive the pump (16, 116). A value indicative of flow rate of water is determined and the motor is controlled to adjust the flow rate. A controller (30, 130) is in communication with the motor (24, 124).The controller (30, 130) obtains from a filter menu information including at least pool size and a scheduled time including start and stop times for a plurality of cycles, the controller (30, 130) calculating a filter flow value by dividing the pool size by the scheduled time in order to self-adjust to any total size of the at least one aquatic application (14, 114). The invention is as well related to the corresponding method.

  1. 1
A pumping system (10, 110) for at least one aquatic application (14, 114), the pumping system (10, 110) comprising:a pump (16, 116);a motor (24, 124) coupled to the pump (16, 116);a filter (22, 122) coupled to the pump (16, 116);anda controller (30, 130) in communication with the motor (24, 124), the controller (30, 130) obtain from a filter menu information including at least pool size and a scheduled time including start and stop times for a plurality of cycles, the controller (30, 130) calculating a filter flow value by dividing the pool size by the scheduled time in order to self-adjust to any total size of the at least one aquatic application (14, 114).
  2. 5
A pumping method for moving water of an aquatic application (14, 114), the pumping method including:moving water by a water pump (16, 116);driving the water pump (16, 116) by a variable speed motor (24, 124) operatively connected thereto;performing upon the water a filter operation with a filter arrangement (22, 122);controlling the motor (24, 124) to obtain from a filter menu information including at least pool size and a scheduled time including start and stop times for a plurality of cycles and calculating a filter flow value by dividing the pool size by the scheduled time.
