33 claims: 14 independent, 19 dependent

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2007079067 A2 - 29 - Claims 1 . An endovascular prosthesis, including:at least one structural component and a woven graft material, wherein the structural component is connected to the graft material by attachment of the structurat component to the graft material at thermoplastically fused regions of the graft material.
  2. 7
The endovascular prosthesis of any preceding claim, wherein the thermoplastically fused region is formed by passing an electric current through the structural component or through a segment of the structural component.
  3. 8
The endovascular prosthesis of any preceding claim, wherein the thermoplastically fused region is formed using laser welding.
  4. 9
The endovascular prosthesis of any preceding claim, wherein:the graft material comprises a first surface, a second surface and an interior region therebetween;the, or a segment of the, structural component comprises a length;a contacting face substantially parallel to and in contact with the second surface;a first edge and a second edge, wherein the first and second edges are on opposite sides of the segment and are substantially perpendicular to the graft - 30 - materϊal and the contacting face;and an opposing face, located on the opposite side of the segment from the contacting face.
  5. 14
The endovascular prosthesis of any preceding claim, wherein the graft material comprises a single material, a blend of materials, a laminate or a composite of two or more materials.
  6. 15
1 5. The endovascular prosthesis of any preceding claim, wherein the thermoplastically fused regions comprise 10% or less of the graft material.
  7. 16
1 6. A method of connecting a structural component and a woven graft material including the steps of:providing a woven graft material suitable for forming a lumen;providing the structural component;and attaching the structural component to the graft material by thermoplastically fusing the graft material to the structural component to provide at least one thermoplastically fused region, wherein the at least one thermoplastically fused region occurs substantially where the structural component contacts the graft material. - 31 -
  8. 19
The method of any one of claims 16 to 1 8, wherein the at least one thermoplastically fused region comprises 10% or less of the graft material.
  9. 20
The method of any one of claims 16 to 19, wherein the structural component comprises a stent suitable for supporting a lumen formed by the graft material, wherein the stent comprises at least one stent segment.
  10. 21
The method of any one of claims 16 to 20, wherein the structural component is attached to the graft material by thermoplastically fusing the graft material to at least one segment of the structural component to provide at least one thermoplastically fused region, wherein the at least one thermoplastically fused-region occurs substantially where the at least one segment contacts the graft material.
  11. 27
The method of any one of claims 1 6 to 26, wherein the at least one thermoplastically fused region is generated by said heating.
  12. 31
The method of any one of claims 1 6 to 30, wherein a heat sink is employed while connecting the structural component to the graft.
  13. 32
The method of any one of claims 1 6 to 31 , wherein the structural component is directly attached to the exterior of the graft material.
  14. 33
The method of any one of claims 1 6 to 31 , wherein the structural component is directly attached to the interior of the graft material.
