    A communication method for use in a system (100; 700; 800) including an end node (144, 146; 710; 810), a first access node (140; 740; 840) and a second access node (140; 750; 850), the method comprising:operating said end node (144, 146;710;810) to: receive broadcast information from said second access node (140;750;850);determine a physical attachment point identifier corresponding to said second access node (140;750;850) from said broadcast information;select, for communicating information to the physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850), between i) a first communications link said end node (144, 146;710;810) has with the first access node (140;740;840) and ii) a second communications link said end node (144, 146;710;810) has with the second access node (140;750;850), said first and second links supporting uplink signaling, said end node (144, 146;710;810) having said first and second communications links at the same time;and when said link with the first access node (140;740;840) is selected as the most appropriate based on the quality of connections for communicating information to the physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850): transmitting a first signal including said physical attachment point identifier to said first access node (140;740;840), said first signal including said physical attachment point identifier corresponding to the second access node (140;750;850), and information to be communicated to said physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850);wherein said first access node (140;750;850) is receiving said first signal, determining a network layer address corresponding to the physical attachment point identifier included in said first signal and transmitting a message including said determined network layer address as a destination address, said physical attachment point identifier corresponding to the second access node (140;750;850) and said information to be communicated to said physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850).

    A wireless terminal (144, 146; 710; 810) comprising:a first receiver module (232) for receiving broadcast information from a second access node (140;750;850);a physical attachment point identifier determination module (270) for determining, from said broadcast information, a physical attachment point identifier corresponding to an access point at said second access node (140;750;850);a selection module (213;730) for selecting, for communicating information to the physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850), between i) a first communications link said wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) has with the first access node (140;740;840) and ii) a second communications link said wireless terminal (140;740;840) has with the second access node (140;750;850), said first and second links supporting uplink signaling, said wireless terminal (140;740;840) having said first and second communications links at the same time;and a first transmitter module (234) for transmitting to said first access node (140;740;840), when said link with the first access node (140;740;840) is selected as the most appropriate based on the quality of connections for communicating information to the physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850), a first signal including said physical attachment point identifier, said first signal including, in addition to said physical attachment point identifier, and information to be communicated to said physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850);wherein said first access node (140;750;850) is receiving said first signal, determining a network layer address corresponding to the physical attachment point identifier included in said first signal and transmitting a message including said determined network layer address as a destination address, said physical attachment point identifier corresponding to the second access node (140;750;850) and said information to be communicated to said physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850).

    A communication method for use in a system (100; 700; 800) including an end node (144, 146; 710; 810), a first access node (140; 740; 840) and a second access node (140; 750; 850), the method comprising:operating said first access node (140;740;840) to receive a first signal from said end node (144, 146;710;810), said first signal including a physical attachment point identifier corresponding to a physical attachment point included at the second access node (140;750;850) and information to be communicated to said physical attachment point, wherein said end node (144, 146;710;810) selects, for communicating information to the second access node (140;750;850), between i) a first communications link said end node (144, 146;710;810) has with the first access node (140;740;840) and ii) a second communications link said end node (144, 146;710;810) has with the second access node (140;750;850), and wherein the end node (144, 146;710;810) having the first and second communication links at the same time for supporting uplink signaling, and wherein said link with the first access node (140;740;840) is selected as the most appropriate based on the quality of connections;operating said first access node (140;740;840) to determine a network layer address corresponding to the physical attachment point identifier included in said first signal;and operating said first access node (140;740;840) to transmit a packet including said determined network layer address as a destination address, said physical attachment point identifier corresponding to the second access node (140;750;850), and including said information obtained from said first signal.

    A base station (140; 740; 840), comprising:a receiver module (332) for receiving from a wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) a first signal including a physical attachment point identifier identifying a physical attachment point corresponding to a physical attachment point at a second base station (140;750;850) and information to be delivered to said physical attachment point, wherein said wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) selects, for communicating information to the second base station (140;750;850), between i) a first communications link said wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) has with the base station (140;740;840) and ii) a second communications link said wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) has with the second base station (140;750;850), and wherein the wireless terminal (144, 146;710;810) having the first and second communication links at the same time for supporting uplink signaling, and wherein said link with the first access node (140;740;840) is selected as the most appropriate based on the quality of connections;an address resolution table (311) including information mapping at least one physical attachment point identifier to a network layer address;a mapping module (312) for determining from the address resolution table (311) a network layer address corresponding to the physical attachment point identifier included in said first signal;and a network interface module (320) for transmitting a packet including said determined network layer address as a destination address and including said physical attachment point identifier and said information to be delivered to said physical attachment point.
